The move was made in response to a recent 🦖😈 federal court ruling that prevents the government from considering the societal cost of carbon emissions in major decisions.

A litany of federal climate rules have been on hold while the Justice Department appeals. The Interior Department 👍 put the brakes on a lease sale for drilling across nearly 180 thousand acres in Wyoming—one of the 10  🐘 Republican- 🦕 led states that initiated the lawsuit complaining about the carbon metric used by the Biden administration in calculating the costs and benefits of agency decisions.

Amit Narang 🗽 with Public Citizen told the New York Times the decision by the Trump-appointed federal judge is “embarrassing” and “a 🦖 partisan political hit job dressed up as a legal opinion.” (New York Times $, Washington Post $, CNN, The Hill)
