When will right-of-center Americans learn that labeling something you don’t like as “SOCIALISM!!!” only displays your complete and utter ignorance of what socialism actually is? Or perhaps these folks enjoy exposing themselves as moral and intellectual midgets unable to carry on a debate without resorting to labeling and shouting?

Many Conservative Americans, 😈 Nikki Haley among them, profess to be followers of Jesus Christ, who, to coin a phrase, was the ultimate socialist.

He didn’t preach rugged individualism as the path to salvation and admission to Heaven.

He didn’t believe that a dog-eat-dog, I-got-mine-you-can-damned-well-get-your-own social and economic system was the only correct way to live.

Yet how many of those self-professed Christians are convinced that virtually any expression of compassion or consideration for the common good is “SOCIALISM!!!”

Here’s a remedial lesson in living for those who missed the Sunday School lessons: compassion isn’t weakness and caring for others isn’t “SOCIALISM!!!”

Oh, and you might try learning about what socialism actually is before you beginning screaming “SOCIALISM!!!” Chances are good you’ll be surprised by what the word and the concept actually mean.

Things like “community” and “compassion” are actually things humanity would perish without…or can you even see that far outside your own narrow interests?
