Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:

0:00 - Introduction

1. 0:17 {Can Megachurches be Effective?} From a biblical and practical standpoint, is there a maximum number of people that can or should make up a local church? Assuming their doctrine is biblical, can a megachurch with multiple satellite sites or campuses be an effective church?

2. 13:52 {Was Mary Surprised about Jesus’ Deity?} If Mary was aware of the immaculate conception (visited by an angel, etc.), why in Mark 3: 21 does it seem she’s surprised about Jesus being the Messiah? Scripture says His "family" that goes to "take charge of Him" for being out of His mind are His mother & brothers. Why would Mary think He is out of His mind if she had been visited by an angel?

3. 19:40 {About the Apostles’ Martyrdom} A big defense for Christianity is that the Apostles died & were tortured, never recanting Jesus. How are the Heavens Gate & Jonestown 1978 incidents any different? They all willingly died for a lie, too.

4. 24:33 {Who are the Called & Chosen in Matt.?} Who are the called & chosen ones in Matthew 22: 14? Is it God who does both the calling & the choosing?

5. 30:32 {Does Jesus Mean “Hail Zeus”?} What do you say to people who claim that the name Jesus really means “hail Zeus”? They say one is unknowingly doing witchcraft by using the name Jesus. Why didn’t His name just continue as Yeshua?

6. 35:17 {Is John 15 Works-Based?} Is John 15 works-based? v.10 says, “IF you keep my commandments, THEN you will abide in my love.” That sounds like obedience earns God's love, contrary to the Gospel. What does a life of "abiding" look like daily?

7. 42:25 {Ways to Grow in Christ} I've recently found a renewed desire to get closer with God and was just wondering if you have any advice about how to do so.

8. 44:05 {Did God Ordain Animal Sacrifices?} Does Jeremiah 7: 22 & Matthew 9: 13 indicate God never ordained animal sacrifices? To me it seems God has gradually moved mankind away from sacrifices & idol worship and into His ideal form of religion.

9. 54:05 {About Angels} I know that we are made in the image and likeness of God and are called God’s children, but what are angels to God? Are they made in the image and likeness of God? Are they God’s children?

10. 57:22 {Is there a Contradiction?} In Matthew 2: 19-22, was Joseph’s second dream (vs. 22) from God? God says all who mean to kill you are dead, but God warns him again. Some translations of vs. 22 leave out “God.” Is this a contradiction?

11. 1:00:40 {How Many People are in Heaven?} It's estimated that 60% of natural conceptions fail to implant in the uterus and that at least 50 billion people lived until now. Does that mean there are around 75 billion people in Heaven?

12. 1:05:32 {How to Recognize the Spirit vs. Enemy} How do we know when we feel the Holy Spirit that it isn't a trick from Satan making us think that it’s God? And how do you know Jesus’s resurrection wasn’t a false miracle/wonder by Satan?

13. 1:09:26 {How to Glorify God as an Artist} I like to draw and write fiction in my spare time, and I want to glorify God as best I can doing this. Is there anything I should do or avoid doing as a Christian artist?

14. 1:11:19 {Does Forgiveness Challenge Responsibility?} My grandma rejects Christianity because she claims relying on the forgiveness of a savior teaches us that we don’t have to be responsible for our own actions. How can I help her untangle that belief?

15. 1:14:35 {About the “Day of the Lord”} What must come first, per 2 Thessalonians 2:3? Does “apostasia” mean a spiritual falling away/rebellion, or a physical departure, as in the rapture?

16. 1:19:03 {What does “Cowardly” Mean in Revelation?} Can you shed some light on what Revelation 21:8 really means by the cowardly or the fearful having a special place in the lake of fire?

17. 1:21:31 {About Liberal & Conservative Christians} It seems like conservative Christians are biblical with respect to personal morality, to the exclusion of societal justice - and liberal ones vice versa. Why? Is one more important? How do we reconcile the extremes?

18. 1:26:36 {Forming a Biblical Self-Image} How do I overcome self hate? Whenever I look at myself, I see a sinner and a failure and it's hard to see God as a loving Father when all I can see Him as is a judge, and I'm afraid of Him at times.

19. 1:30:46 {About the Marks of Stigmata} What do you think about the marks of the stigmata? Is there any way this could be biblical, even if someone isn't Catholic?

20. 1:33:43 {About God Revealing Himself to Mankind} If God wants you to be saved more than you do, why doesn’t He reveal Himself to everyone like He did to Paul? Wouldn't more people be saved if they had the same “Road to Damascus” experience that Paul had?

Here's my website with a new clip search feature for finding exactly where in a video a particular issue is addressed. https://BibleThinker.org

Agelbert COMMENT: In regard to the person having self hate issues in question 18:
Self hate can often be the result of worldly grief. Godly grief is indispensable for victory against sin, as the Scripture makes clear (see below).

II Corinthians 7:9-10 (English Standard Version)
As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us. For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing."  James 1:22-25 English Standard Version

20 Questions with Pastor Mike (Episode 52)

Mike Winger 🕊️ 339K subscribers

Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:
0:00 - Introduction

1. 0:48 {Does Scripture Promote Evil Things?} I’ve been challenged with the accusation that the Bible “promotes killing, , and slavery,” quoting Numbers 31: 15-18. I don’t want to simply prove them wrong; that doesn’t address this person’s heart. Would you please help?

2. 18:36 {About the Death Penalty} As a follow up to your teaching on the death penalty, this question is from my skeptic brother: "Isn't it better to rehabilitate offenders in hopes that they may come to repentance and give their lives to God?"

3. 22:32 {About the Apostles & Judas’ Position} I’ve heard it taught that the Apostles were being presumptuous when filling Judas’ empty position. Why did they choose to apply Psalm 69: 25 and Psalm 109:8 to the situation?

4. 30:38 {Can we See God’s Face & Still Live?} Exodus 33: 20 says "no one can see my face and live.” How do we reconcile this with Exodus 33: 11 which says, "the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as to a friend"?

5. 36:02 {About the 70th Week & Seven Seals} Is there any biblical evidence that the beginning of Daniel's 70th week and Jesus opening the first of the seven seals in Revelation will occur roughly at the same time?

6. 37:44 {Why Didn’t God Rewrite Difficult Passages?} Can you explain the Holy Spirit Inspiration Doctrine? I struggle with understanding why God did not rewrite controversial Bible passages. I know I am only a man, and I seek to understand.

7. 41:35 {Advice for an Unequally Yoked Marriage} My wife is an unbeliever. The more I attend church, the more strain it puts on our marriage. Is it right to continue going to church, or should I stop? (1 Corinthians 7: 14) I pray for her every day.

8. 44:40 {About the Book of Numbers} What is the best way to read the book of Numbers? What’s some really cool stuff about it and how it ties to JESUS?

9. 47:36 {Is “Deliverance” / Demon Casting Biblical?} I'm wondering about your thoughts on deliverance. Would you consider calling and identifying demons biblical, or is it not?

10. 50:43 {Reconciling 2 Important Verses/Worldly Christians?} Can you explain Matthew 7: 21 vs. Romans 10: 13? Also, how do you spot worldly Christians (1 Corinthians 3:1) from those who are unsaved but have good works (Matthew 7: 22-23)? Shouldn't we have grace for sanctification?
James Chapter 1:14-18 📢 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 👉 James Chapter 1:14-18 ESV

11. 55:15 {Advice for Christian College Students} What advice do you have for Christians in college?

12. 59:12 {Is there Hope After Death for the Unsaved?} Can the Gospel be preached to the dead? According to 1 Peter 4:6, is there any hope for people after they die? Also, in 1 Peter 3:19-20, what does “preached unto the spirits in prison” mean?

13. 1:03:43 {About Assurance of Salvation} How can I be sure that I am going to Heaven when I die?

14. 1:06:35 {How is Satan the World’s Ruler?} Can you explain how Satan became the ruler of this world?

15. 1:09:48 {About Salvation by Grace vs. Our Efforts} If we don't have to do works to get saved, why does Jesus tell us to "make every effort to enter through the narrow door" in Luke 13: 24?

16. 1:13:07 {Help for Anxiety over Unsaved Loved Ones} How do I combat anxiety about my newborn daughter’s salvation? It’s a difficult topic for me due to my younger brother walking away from the faith as a teenager.

17. 1:16:10 {About God’s Omnipotence & Non-Contradiction} Since God can’t contradict Himself, does that mean that His power is limited in a way? I know God is all powerful, but what is the logical reason behind Him being powerful and non-contradictory?

18. 1:20:06 {About Vaccines & Aborted Fetal Tissue} What are your thought on vaccines using aborted fetal cell lines for development? I’m about to lose my job at big MN clinic if I don’t get the vaccine and struggle with this issue.

19. 1:26:26 {About being Satisfied in God} How can you know that you are satisfied in God? How does it manifest practically? Does doing Christian things mean I'm satisfied in God? Can’t I do Christian stuff and still not be satisfied in Him?

20. 1:28:59 {Is Pledging Allegiance Idolatry?} Is pledging allegiance to a country or flag a form of idolatry?

To ask a question for the stream just be there as the stream begins, wait until after it starts and post your question with a "Q" in front of it. You can also put "ANQ" to ask anonymously.

My video explaining in detail the topic of the Bible and slavery

A Pastor Shares His Thoughts on Halloween

In my opinion, people are often one-sided when dealing with the topic of Halloween (or holidays in general). I hope to add something worthwhile to the conversation as I bring up 7 different issues to consider related to Halloween.

Mike, I appreciate your careful thinking on this subject. I myself wasted 8 years of my life in occultism where this was a sacred day so I personally don't celebrate it for this reason. But here is my thought, the cute princess and the cool cowboy will most often turn into the sexy nurse and the zombie cowboy. And I'm not even gonna touch the fact of the outreach from occultism.

Eden Elston 🕊️ 2 weeks ago 👍

The fact that 1) candy is available year round, and 2) kids can play dress up year round, 3) parents can give their kids candy and costumes year round, why would a parent choose to engage in celebration/observance of a holiday (holy day) of the occult? I can't see a logical reason for a Christian to continue the observance at all. It's like yoga practice. I completed a yoga teacher training. Surface level, it is physical exercise. But when you understand the why and how of the physical practice, you cannot separate it from its heretical spiritual aspects. The poses have purpose, they prostrate oneself to false gods and demons. The thing is, we are Spirit beings in a physical body- what the body does the Spirit follows. And this is why Halloween is a danger. Because it provides an opportunity for greater satanic/demonic influence. God refused to be worshipped as pagans worshipped their gods. Appropriating every pagan practice to Christianity because it's fun and not "inherently wrong" doesn't mean God is pleased with it

Catholic Apologists Abuse Scripture to Teach Mariology: How to find Jesus in the OT pt 15

Nov 19, 2018

Mike Winger 🕊️ 340K subscribers

I'll demonstrate how NOT to do typology by using examples of Catholic apologists twisting the Bible out of shape to squeeze the dogmas about Mary into the scripture.

The types of Mary are supposedly the New Eve, the Ark of the New Covenant and the Queen Mother. But when we examine them we see that they not only aren't types, they don't give the dogmas that Catholic apologists pretend they do.

From the "New Eve" they want to say that Mary was immaculately conceived (that she was born without sin and never sinned through her life). From the "Ark of the New Covenant" they want to say she was perpetually a virgin (even after Jesus' birth) and that she was taken bodily up into heaven at the end of her life. From the "Queen Mother" they want to say she is exalted to the right hand of Jesus and can intercede for us today.

Agelbert NOTE: I had an interesting exchange with a Catholic determined to defend his worship of Mary, who is, according to Catholic Dogma, the "Queen Mother of Heaven".

Anthony Gelbert 2 days ago
Worshipping an alleged "Queen of Heaven" is idolatry that was condemned by the Prophet Jeremiah in the Old Testament. Catholics, rather conveniently, do not wish to equate their usage of “queen of heaven” with the book of Jeremiah. However, one cannot miss the fact that the phrase "queen of heaven" in Jeremiah is a CLEAR reference to idolatry.

Jeremiah 7:18 English Standard Version
The children gather wood, the fathers kindle fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven. And they pour out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.
See also Jeremiah 44:17–19 and Jeremiah 44:25.

The Catholic Dogma advocating the worship of, and prayer to, Mary, is Heresy. My Christian wife told her (Catholic) mother, "The Catholic Church is trying to morph the Holy Trinity into the "Holy Quartet.". That is Blasphemy!

mike teixeira > Anthony Gelbert 2 days ago
As a Catholic,   I  adore the  Mother of my Savior;   Her ' YES ' to  God's Will  gave us a shot at eternal life with  God.......no apologies !!!

Anthony Gelbert >mike teixeira 2 days ago
Your ' NO ' to Holy Scripture that was written by Jeremiah the Prophet is not something Mary would have done. Mary certainly is Blessed among women, but she was NOT "born without original sin". In so many words, Mary herself admitted that (see Luke 1:46-55 below).

And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in 👉God my Savior,👈
👉for he👈has looked on the
👉humble estate of his servant.👈
👉For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for
👉he who is mighty 👈
👉has done great things for me, and
👉holy is his name👈. And his mercy is for those who fear him  from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and
👉exalted those of humble estate; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as
👉he spoke to
👉our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.” Luke 1:46-55 ESV

Adam and Eve, though never conceived, were created, I am sure you agree, without original sin. Consequently, Adam an Eve did not need a Savior before their Fall. Mary rejoiced in God her 🕊Savior. Everyone with original sin requires a 🕊Savior.

Furthermore, according to Mary herself, her 🕊Savior spoke to "our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever." Jeremiah the Prophet was one of those Saints that He spoke to. Jeremiah said 'YES' to ☝🏻 his calling✨, as did ☝🏻Mary ✨. Mary would never have rejected what Jeremiah wrote. Yet sadly, you do. What makes you think Mary would not find the very idea of her being proclaimed the "Queen of Heaven" by you a Blasphemy? The Holy One is God, as Mary said. Mary did not die for our sins, our Savior Jesus Christ did.

Mary, like all the Saints, is to be venerated, but we pray to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. Why would anybody think we need to pray to anyone but God Himself?

Jesus Christ is our intercessor. There is no other. Mary never claimed to be anything but an obedient servant of humble estate. Why don't you trust the words of Mary herself? Her allegiance was to her Savior, as ours must be too, in order to obtain eternal life with God. 🕯️

mike teixeira > Anthony Gelbert 1 day ago
@Anthony Gelbert ...............There are two ways to be saved as is written in the Lord's Prayer..........see  Matt. 6: 13..........before temptation or delivered from evil.
Mary  is  Queen of heaven because  Her Son is the  King of Kings after the  Davidic reign........see  Luke 1: 32.       In the  Davidic reign,  it is the mother of the king that has open access to the throne to intercede for the people.      Compare  Bathsheba,  both as wife then as mother of the king in  1 Kings 1: 16  with 1 Kings 2: 19.

Anthony Gelbert > mike teixeira 19 hours ago
@mike teixeira  Solomon told Bathsheba, "NO WAY!" to her request. His polite initial greeting was the part where you seem to have stopped reading. If you had continued reading, you would learn that Solomon's brother was attempting to use Queen Mother Bathsheba to steal Solomon's kingdom. Solomon saw right through that and had his brother killed after telling Bathsheba that she was WAY out of line in making that request. "Access" and "intercessory power" by a Queen Mother was limited to whatever the King said, period. She did NOT ever have the power to "command" zip from the king.

And anyways, what, EXACTLY, does the Davidic kingdom hierarchy structure have to do with Mary??? As far as I can tell from carefully reading Old Testament Scripture, absolutely nothing. So, based on Solomon's DENIAL of the Queen Mother Bathsheba's request, for you to try to build case for Mary as an "intercessor" between us and Jesus Christ  is illogical as well as wishful thinking.

If you want to bring up a successful intercessor during Davidic kingdom times, you MUST point to David's top military man, Joab, who interceded on behalf of Absalom. Joab was a successful intercessor! Bathsheba was definitely NOT a successful intercessor. Yet you want to use her unsuccesful intercession as "typology" for "Queen Mother" Mary as an "intercessor" between us and Jesus???

Is the issue for you successful intercession or not? If the key adjective is "successful", Queen Mother Bathsheba need not apply. So, trying to associate Bathsheba with "Queen Mother" Mary is of no use.

On the topic of successful intercession, General Joab was not the only successful intercessor with a King of Israel. Even before David became King, another example of successful intercession with the King is Jonathan, King Saul's son, who successfully interceded on behalf of David to keep King Saul from killing David.

In summary, as is irrefutably written in Old Testament Scripture, the Queen Mother during Davidic kingdom times had no special advantage over either the son of a King or his top military man in the ability to intercede on behalf of somebody. So, this "Queen of Heaven" concept does not match up with Davidic kingdom access or intercessory power.

Therefore there is no Scriptural basis for a "Mary Queen Mother of Heaven" interceding for us with Jesus Christ. And no, just because they were successful intercessors during Davidic Kingdom times, I will certainly not pray to Joab or Jonathan. I will continue to pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other intercessor between us and God but God's Son, although many Catholics labor under the flawed belief that Mary has some kind of "soft tough" with Jesus that will get believers some blessings that Jesus is "too busy to give".

I was a Catholic for over 40 years. I know all about praying to that saint for misplaced items items or that other saint when you are lost or that wearing the scapular thing for a period of time or the "promises" from Mary to "guarantee salvation" if we go to Mass on certain extra days and the statues being carried from home to home to make us more "holy", and so on. It is all idolatry. If that offends you, please read this:

Revelation 22:12
“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to REPAY EACH ONE FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” 14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and IDOLATERS, and EVERYONE WHO LOVES AND PRACTICES FALSEHOOD.16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.” 17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. 18 I WARN EVERYONE who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: IF ANYONE ADDS TO THEM, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in qhe tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
THINK, man, THINK!

mike teixeira > Anthony Gelbert 11 hours ago
@Anthony Gelbert ..........The point is this,  the king makes the decision.........his mother makes the intercession for the people.           In  John 2: 1-11,  they got the  BEST WINE.

Anthony Gelbert > mike teixeira 4 hours ago
@mike teixeira  So now you want to present Christ's water into wine miracle, written about in John, as the basis for Mary as an intercessor, even though there is zero basis for Mary as an intercessor for Old Testament Davidic kingdom Scripture? What did Mary say at that wedding? Mary said, “Do whatever HE tells you.”. Yet, the Catholic Church REFUSES to do what Christ actually tells us to do.

Where does Christ tell us what we actually must do? Throughout the New Testament, of course. And, while we are on the subject of Christ's miracle at Cana, as written by John, please remember that John also wrote Revelation. If there was any Scriptural Basis for Mary as an intercessor, based on her asking Christ to help out at the wedding at Cana, John would have said so in Revelation. Do you find Mary mentioned anywhere in the Book of Revelation? No. The only female symbol in the Book of Revelation that has Scriptural Basis is the Bride of Christ, which you know is a symbol for the Church, not Mary as an alleged "Queen of Heaven".

Mike, when you placed all those exclamation marks after the "No apologies" portion of your initial comment defending the fact that you worship Mary, I felt the need to contend for the Faith 🕊️ through sound Christian Doctrine. Thoughout this exchange, I kept in mind that, even if your injured pride keeps you from embracing these truths, other Catholics, more receptive to sound Christian doctrine, may read the exchange and see the Heretic, Idolatrous errors in Catholicism and seek Salvation through Christ. 🕊️ Otherwise, they are sadly doomed to perdition. As Paul said in Galatians, God is not mocked. ☝🏻

Mike, I will remember you in my prayers. May God have mercy on you and bring you to life everlasting, Amen.

Proverbs 28:23 Whoever rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than he who flatters with his tongue.

James 5:19-20 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. 🕊

II Peter 2:1-3 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

Proverbs 22:8
Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.

Proverbs 27:22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matt 10:37

@Anthony Gelbert .........YOU  missed the part when  Mary told Jesus,  " They have no more  wine.'     That is an intercession.

@mike teixeira 🤔 No, the statement by Mary, " They have no more  wine." wasn't an intercession. Jesus Christ did what he did, including the miracle of the water into wine and all the other miracles he performed, when he performed them, because of THIS:

By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek 👉not to please myself 👈 but him 👈 who sent me. John 5:30

Well then, did Mary intercede with God the Father at the wedding in Cana? You probably think so, because Mariologists are always looking for something to provide Scriptural evidence for their "Mary Queen of Heaven" case. Again, you would be heretically guilty of cherry picking without any Scriptural context whatsoever.

Of His own admission, Christ said He said and did ONLY what the Father told Him to say and do. If you doubt that BASIC TENET of New Testament Holy Scripture, then I have nothing further to say to you, because you have totally lost it in regard to the Misson of Christ on Earth.

However, if you DO admit to the irrefutable Scriptural TRUTH that Christ only said and did what God the Father told Him to say and do, then you have to look at ALL the interactions between Mary and Jesus Christ, as quoted in Scripture, to see if your "Mary is the intercessor for us with Christ" case has merit or not. But Catholic Mariologists didn't do that, because then their, "Mary is the intercessor for us with Christ" case falls apart (see below).

Matthew 12:48-50 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

And, that isn't the only place that Christ disregarded Mary's attempt to influence His actions, but Mariologists either don't read the New Testament objectively, or they just ignore any inconvenient passages that don't fit their Mariology Procrustean Bed Heresy. 👎

Did you read about what happened in Nazareth when Christ had difficulty performing miracles because of the unbelief there? Mary lived there! Why didn't Mary have anything to say when Christ bemoaned the unbelief of the people there? Because she was as human, and needing Salvation, as the rest of us!

Please keep in mind that it was God the Father that told Christ this:

Mark 6:4-6 "A prophet is not WITHOUT HONOR except in his own country, AMONG HIS OWN RELATIVES, and in his OWN HOUSE." Now HE COULD DO NO MIGHTY WORK THERE, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And HE MARVELED BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.

There are other passages, too, but I'll stop for brevity.

It is clear from all your comments that you obviously didn't watch, all the way through, the excellent solidly Scripture Based video this comment stream is on by Pastor Mike Winger 👉 Catholic Apologists ABUSE SCRIPTURE to TEACH MARIOLOGY: How to find Jesus in the OT pt 15.

What you are doing is parroting, after swallowing, hook, line and heretical sinker, whatever the Catholic Church cherry picks in a Scripture passage to Mariology typology twist, Mike. 👎🤦‍♂️

What you cannot seem to get is the FACT that Christ's Incarnation, while sine qua non to our Salvation by his sacrifice on the Cross over 30 years later, was a DESCENT for Him. The Angels were celebrating Him at Christ's birth, not Mary. Being born of a virgin DID NOT "elevate" said virgin Mary beyond being blessed among women, but you Mariologists want to crown her with some great and exalted "Queen of Heaven" Heresy simply because you think it was a big deal that she submitted to the will of God, as Mosaic Law REQUIRED ALL Jews to do.

🦉 By the way, do you read the Bible regularly? I don't think so, because if you did, you would understand that what you are doing right now is judged severely by God. ☝🏻

🚩There are many passages in Holy Scripture that make it clear that those who teach heresy, like all Mariologists, are a disgrace in the eyes of God. Here is just one of them:

You who practice deceit, your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor. You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. You love every harmful word, you deceitful tongue! Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. 👉 Psalm 52:2-5
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matt 10:37

Analyzing a typical Joel Osteen sermon

This is not a hit piece. I just think that it can be really helpful to evaluate Joel Osteen's extremely popular teaching through the eyes of a teacher who cares an awful lot about representing the Bible properly.

We often hear of problems with teachers when someone gathers just the most offensive, problematic or otherwise inflammatory parts of their teachings and evaluates them. I am not doing that today.

I'm grabbing a recent, random Joel Osteen sermon to have a "typical" example of his teaching. We will look at how he uses the Bible, what his general teaching style is and how a Christian can evaluate and discern what to accept and reject.

Joel’s full “Let it Go” sermon from 10/31/2021.

In the video I will be referencing my series, How to Find Jesus in the Old Testament, and I highly recommend you check it out. It's been the most spiritually rewarding Bible series I've ever done.

Agelbert COMMENT:👍 AMEN, Pastor Winger. A pop "Christian" pretends to want less controversy and more harmony among Christians, but in reality they are encouraging controversy and doubt about Scripture in order to corrupt Christianity into a prosperity preaching heresy. Paul 🕊️ exactly describes pop 😈 "Christians":
I Timothy 6:3-5 English Standard Version (ESV) 👉 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

Agelbert NOTE: For those reading the above who harbor any doubts as to what Paul was talking about in regard to the depravity of the mind of those who push the "material gain is a blessing to be desired and sought out" prosperity preaching heresy, please read the rest of that Scripture (see below).

I Timothy 6:6-10 English Standard Version (ESV) 👉 But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matt 10:37

Snippets from Page 22 and 23 of 373 pages:

Few of the faithful in St Peter’s on this festival of the apostles realize that over a thousand years ago a decision was made to separate the heads of Peter and Paul from their trunks. Those heads have been kept ever since in St John Lateran which is the pope’s cathedral and the mother-church of Christendom. St John Lateran was also built by Constantine next to the Lateran palace which he bestowed on the Bishop of Rome.

By the ancient laws of Rome and the canons of Catholic theology, it follows that Peter is not really buried in St Peter’s but with Paul in St John Lateran. where the head is, so runs the ancient maxim, there is the place of burial. Even today, pastoral practice considers the head the most important part of the remains. In a case of decapitation or a mangled death, it is the head that is anointed with sacred chrism. ... ...

It is there, strictly speaking, that both apostles are buried together. Since St John Lateran is also ‘the Mother and Head of all the churches in the city and in the world’ it is surely there that the Holy Father should have celebrated mass on the festival of St Peter and St Paul.

There is an over-riding reason why he did not do so.

The pope says mass with Peter’s trunk beneath his feet. Two hundred feet above his head there is something far more important than Peter’s remains: words of the Lord. In letters five feet high, running round the dome, is the most famous of all puns: ‘Tu es petrus, et super hanc petram aedificabo ecclesiam meam, et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam’ - ‘Thou art Peter and upon this Rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.’

Scholars assume that in the original Aramaic, the pun was perfect: Peter and Rock are both Cepha. This is the text that forms the background of all Pope John Paul’s thinking. Who would doubt that he frequently takes this text, in all humility, for his meditation? This text is the reason why pontiffs now prefer to celebrate the feast of St Peter and St Paul in St Peter’s, rather than in the more obvious place, St John Lateran. For Roman pontiffs claim to be successors not of Peter and Paul but of Peter alone.

The New Testament speaks of Peter as the apostle to the Jews and Paul as apostle to the Gentiles. But in the pope’s mind, Peter was Paul’s superior; Peter had jurisdiction over Paul and the other disciples. This authority was given Peter by the Lord himself in those words circling the great dome. It is this supreme authority that he, John Paul II, has inherited. Why is it, his Holiness must wonder, that Protestants cannot be logical? Jesus, the Son of God, gave Peter supremacy over the church; this supremacy must remain in the church as a permanent office; he, John Paul, is the present holder of this office.

There is, however, another interpretation of this text with a better pedigree than most Catholics realize. It may jolt them to hear that the great Fathers of the church saw no connection between it and the pope. Not one of them applies ‘Thou art Peter’ to anyone but Peter.

One after another they analyse it: Cyprian, Origen, Cyril, Hilary, Jerome, Ambrose, Augustine. They are not exactly Protestants. Not one of them calls the Bishop of Rome a Rock or applies to him specifically the promise of the Keys. This is as staggering to Catholics as if they were to find no mention in the Fathers of the Holy Spirit or the resurrection of the dead. The great pun, the play on words, was applied exclusively to Peter.

The surprises do not stop there. For the Fathers, it is Peter’s faith - or the Lord in whom Peter has faith - which is called the Rock, not Peter. All the Councils of the church from Nicaea in the fourth century to Constance in the fifteenth agree that Christ himself is the only foundation of the church, that is, the Rock on which the church rests.
