In the Netherlands is the main reason to drive EV nothing more than fiscal! In specific people who drive a company car. Do the math yourself, ICE is taxed over a value of 22% of the cars value, an EV is taxed on a value of 4%. That expain why so many Tesla are being sold in the Netherlands in Q4 2019. Those rates will increase in 2020 to 8%, and in 2021 to 12% ... I look forward to see what will happen! I am from Belgium, I drive also a company car and we have also a fiscal benefit if we drive an EV. That was for me the main reason to order an EV, and yes I expect it is more fun to drive, and it will be more silent and good for the climate. But my pocket, that's what counts! And let's hope it will be delivered soon ... that damn virus 😷

"But my pocket, that's what counts!" not the environment or other people's lungs... that's why the world is dying. The Northern Europeans demonstrating their selfishness as usual.

Pardon my stupidity, how does a lower tax benefit the driver who is provided a car and reimbursed for gas? At least that’s how it works in the US, albeit in tiny total vehicle numbers.

The US is an Oil company with an army. The way most everything "works" here is to destroy the biosphere for short term profit. So, using the US as an example of "what works" is wishful thinking, to put it mildly. What we have in the US is government of, for and by the 😈 "Might = Right" Social Darwinist intellimorons who could not do reality based biosphere impact cost benefit analysis if their lives depended on it.

It being that their, and our, lives actually DO depend on the 24/7 application of reality based biosphere impact cost benefit analysis , which they steadfastly refuse to do, the sad part is that these greedy,    arrogant bastards are dooming the rest of us with their ethically bankrupt ideology.

In essence, the climate is unraveling 😱 because the world lit a bunch of dead dinosaurs and ancient plant matter on fire 🔥. And it prioritized economic growth and tied said growth to said 🔥 fire. Powerful 🦕🦖 interests 😈vested in this system have spent the past few decades sowing doubt and pushing for inaction. -- Brian Kahn
