Description: You know, sometimes I think we could just bioengineer a type of duckweed, already the fastest growing flowering plant known to man, so that it eats CO2 like there is no tomorrow.
LONG narrow (about 10 meters wide and a meter deep for ease of access), parallel pools of water (duckweed grows only in stagnant water) running north and south thousands of miles long with automaic harversting to keep the pools from overcrowding might stop or even reverse CO2 increase. The harvested duckweed could be buried, thereby sequestering carbon.
Duckweed is also edible (Ducks like it, but it makes a great nutritional supplement for farm animals and humans too!), which is another way to make use of lots of duckweed.
But, perhaps we just cannot scale an operation like that up fast enough to make a difference. Even so, I think a giant effort should be made to grow mega amounts of duckweed. It certainly will help and it cannot hurt.
