Who benefits?

Who benefits from attacks on these particular targets?
Who has the capability to carry out these attacks. Who has the ability to carry out an attack on oil tankers, underway at sea, in one of the most heavily trafficked sea lanes and thus one of the most heavily surveilled areas in the world, on ships that are specifically on the lookout for such an attack.
Who can carry out that attack and do so in such a manner that the methodology and origin are not immediately apparent?
Who has that capability?
Not only has that capability, but also believes they will directly benefit from a war between Iran and the rest of the world.
Has the capability, is willing to use it, wants a war, and will benefit from the results even if later reveled -- starting with a massive increase in the price of oil.

Now, you tell me: who is that?

My fellow Americans, as President and Commander in Chief, it is my duty to the American people to report that renewed hostile actions against United States ships on the high seas in the Gulf of Tonkin have today required me to order the military forces of the United States to take action in reply -- President Lyndon Johnson, August 4, 1964, addressing the nation following two attacks by North Vietnamese gunboats on the American warship USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin.
Whereas these attackers are part of a deliberate and systematic campaign of aggression that the Communist regime in North Vietnam has been waging against its neighbors and the nations joined with them in the collective defense of their freedom -- Tonkin Gulf Resolution, August 7, 1964, the US resolution which, as a result of the North Vietnamese attacks on USS Maddox, led directly to the Vietnam War.

In 2005, records from the Maddox Incident were declassified, revealing that in the first attack on USS Maddox, the US warship was in fact the aggressor and fired on North Vietnamese vessels first.
The second attack never actually happened at all.

The only analysis that I would add, that gives some hope to people of good will, is the fact that ever since the 2003 Bush (and his wrecking crew) War Crime Atrocity against Iraq, an atrocity perpetrated with lies so transparent that literally millions of people tried, but failed, to stop said war for oil to take place, the United States of America LOST the moral high ground (that our propaganda machine had successfully spoon fed to most of the us for over a century). From 2003 to the present, despite undending disingenious efforts by the media water carriers for the M.I.C. to recover this lost moral high ground, these evil bastards have FAILED.

Trump (and Israel) will NEVER convince the American public that a war with Iran is "justified".

Nevertheless, they may go to great lengths (e.g. 9/11 style false flag massive attack on Israel) to get it done while we peace loving folks are paralyzed by cognitive dissonance.

Let us picture that scenario:

War Day minus one month: Israel screams that thei Iranians want to wipe them out. The NYT sides with Israel. The U.S. is portrayed in the media as rushing to the defense of our ally, "beleaguered" Israel, the "only Democracy" in the Midddle East. Trump praises the NYT for "finally" telling the "truth".
 
War Day minus three weeks: Iran, knowing what that alligator tears propaganda circus pitch is really all about, remains silent but quickly prepares its military for all out war. They surreptitiously appeal to Russia and China to create an "incident" somewhere else on the planet to unnerve/distract Trump's M.I.C. wrecking crew (multiple front wars are the nightmare of all generals).

War Day minus two weeks: The U.S. sinks one of its own battleships in the Gulf of Oman with a cruise missle and blames Iran. The media demands an attack on Iran. Russia and/or China put into operation plans to stop the war.

War Day minus one week: Chinese soldiers capture a U.S. battleship in Hong Kong harbor, claiming the ship's crew is illegally "interfering" with Chinese politics in Hong Kong. Two American crewmembers are killed in a brief firefight. The rest are held for "questioning". Video of Chinese on U.S. Battleship goes viral. Chinese authorities state that crew and battleship will be returned to U.S. custody when the U.S. apologizes for its interference and stops the warmongering in the Middle East. Pentagon quietly screams at Trump that logistics cannot handle the Chinese and Iran thing simultaneously. Trump turns purple, refuses to change course, but says nothing publicly.

War Day minus 4 days week: Russian ship "accidentally" rams a U.S. aircraft carrier near Japan. Russia publicly apologizes but privately warns Trump that war with Iran is unacceptable. Pentagon notifies Trump that several Russian S-400 missile batteries have been moved to Iran in the last month AND that Russian nuclear forces went on alert this week. Trump gets the runs but refuses to change course, and says nothing publicly.

War Day: Hundreds of cruise missles are fired at Iran from several U.S. war ships, causing thousands of casualties. Iranian missles sink all those ships the same day, killing most crewmembers. Trump goes into hiding. Israel screams bloody murder. Russia and China go to full nuclear alert. WHY? Because the red line for them is Iran. If Iran goes down, they are next on the MIC's "to do" list.

War Day +2 days: Trump authorizes tactical nuclear weapons use against Iran. At least 12 tactical (about 20% of Hiroshima size) nukes are exploded on Iranian cities, NOT troops or harbors (This is for the MIC purpose of bringing a quick surrender). Iran does not surrender and screams that these attacks are heinous War Crimes.

War Day +3 days: Russian bombers attack remaining U.S. assets near Iran, using tactical nuclear weapons. U.S. fleet destroyed.

War Day +4 days: Trump dies of an (accidentally on purpose) heart attack and Pence, after being read the riot act by those who still have a brain in the Pentagon, AND a brief conversation on the hotline with Putin AND another one with XI, declares an immediate end to hostilities.

OR

War Day +4 days: Trump and his WRECKING CREW attack the Russian bombers with our fighters and our bombers drop a tactical nuke on a small Russian city.

War Day +5 days: Full scale nuclear war breaks out. You and I and every single person we know and love are all killed. Have a nice day.
