The Tariff Issue

WOW! Surly, your news roundup today is basically a short (updated to the present) course in the American skullduggery filled History of Mens rea Actus Reus involving the routine use of the false flag attack fakery for war profiteering, pollution for profit over people and planet and the targeted profiting from abuse, imprisonment and murder of minorites by arrogant bigots in government, along with voices from brave humans who have always called this EVIL out and provided options based on justice, not society destroying greed.

I can only add this, which provides the proper (From Nixon to, AND INCLUDING, Trump) context for your excellent news roundup.

Thanks, AG. Appreciate your comments. The DDD certainly reflects my POV. In putting a daily "paper"together, I have learned how an editor's sensibilities affect the presentation of "the first draft of history."

What gets put out is as important a decision as what gets put in.

Newspaper editor have space constraints in terms of layout. I also have "constraints" in terms of number of lines of code allowed. In order to have the page display properly, I use an HTML editor to cut extraneous lines of code to keep the page south of 85-90 or so. SMS pukes and will not display properly of too much HTML is on the page... the dreaded "brown screen of death" results.

And so it goes.

Agelbert NOTE: I'm not an engineer but I happen to know a thing or two about concrete and radionuclides. After 3 to 4 decades, BECAUSE of the FACT that concrete NEVER stops curing, but gets more and more brittle, creating tiny fractures that WILL fill with water, sealed radionuclides WILL, and DID, migrate through to the great (i.e. Pacific Occean) "outdoors" in this concrete "coffin".

There is no structure made of concrete on Planet Earth, and there never has been, that can prevent leaking of radionuclides, regardless of the thickness of the initial pouring of the concrete structure. ONLY routine inspections with new pourings every three decades or so can actually keep the radionuclides from getting out.

They did not do that in the Nuclear "coffin". I think they poured that structure in the 1960's right? That means that the RADIOACTIVE LEAKING has been going on since around, uh, um, 1990, give or take 5 or 6 years.

It's nice of them to notice that there "may" be a leak in 2019. Sleep well, our government is protecting us from Monsanto, Fossil Fuel air pollution, Catastrophic Climate Change, Police State Fascism, radionuclide leaks, Iranians, Venezuelans and North Koreans.

I wonder if using the recipe for Roman concrete made of volcanic ash would one more effective. Apparently a recipe by Vitruvius has been discovered. Roman aqueducts are still standing.

Perhaps that might work. I remember reading that the Roman formula for hydraulic concrete is so good that, not only will it set under water, but many columns they made to support pier facilities way back then still exist along the Mediterranian coasts. That doesn't mean that it isn't super brittle now, but if water cannot penetrate it for centuries, then it would provide a solution.
