Kings of Camouflage

Have you ever seen a sea creature than can flash like a disco strobe light over its ENTIRE BODY?  :o

Watch these kings of camouflage in action. Of course they can blend in with their surroundings to trap prey but when they DON'T want to blend, such as when they mate or when they want to "mesmerize" their prey, they can put on quite a show!

It turns out they are extremely intelligent too. This drives scientists up a wall because a short lived creature such as this one doesn't seem to have had the time to "evolve" such high order thinking. This creature, as you will see above. has demonstrated the ability to learn quite quickly and adjust its behavior accordingly..

I AGREE    that this wonder of the ocean, the cuttlefish, certainly DID NOT have time to "evolve".  ;)

There is even a teeny tiny species of cuttlefish that puts on a show ALL the time instead of trying to hide. Scientists discovered why it is so seemingly fearless. It's quite pretty too. Enjoy the show!

Snow Leopards: Masters of Disguise

SNIPPET:

The snow leopard's ability to blend in with its surroundings is legendary. It even earned the cat its most famous nickname, Ghost of the Mountain.

“Perhaps people started calling this cat Snow Leopard because the few times anyone would spot one, it would have been crossing a snow field”, says Dr. Justine Shanti Alexander, Regional Ecologist with the Snow Leopard Trust. “But Rock Leopard would be a more appropriate name, because that’s where they are most at home.

Praying Mantises - The Kung Fu Killers of the Insect Kingdom

Free High-Quality Documentaries

Published on Nov 19, 2018

They are killers. They kill with unbelievable precision. They fight Kung Fu style and are seen in Japan as a symbol of vigilance - the mantises. Their triangular head with its unique flexibility is conspicuous. Two overdimensioned eyes fixate the distance to their prey rapidly and three-dimensionally. The chest segment of the mantis is prolonged and equipped with spiny appendages that can spear their prey as fast as a jack knife. The mysterious aura that surrounds the praying mantis has a lot to do with the fact that they are rarely seen. They have adapted to their surroundings perfectly. No matter whether leaves, blossoms, tree bark, sandy floors or even orchids - the mantis adjusts to all environments.

We observe mantises with our cameras whilst they are hunting, when they shed their skin and whilst breeding and eventually the females practicing their cannibalism. We were also on hand when the female produces a nest of foam on which to lay her eggs; all filmed with time lapse and real-time cameras. A film, that comprehensively documents the secret life of the mantises for the very first time and provides us with unique footage thanks to state of the art equipment.
