As we older folks get on in years, our body does not make the same amount of melatonin. Sometimes people make the mistake of trying strong seep drugs, which they become addicted to and just make sleep harder, and costlier, to come by. 👎

Needing less sleep as one ages seems to be the norm. In my case, that did not happen. I still need around 10 hours of sleep to feel rested. My dad, who never needed more than five hours or so, was always on my case about that when I was in my early 20's (and before I had a steady job ;)).

I am certain I would be more productive if I needed less sleep. But unfortunately, that isn't how I'm wired. In West Point (you NEVER got more that 6 hours there) I actually fell asleep after asking a question (while the computer software teacher was answering!).

In engineering graphics class I routinely had to join the small (two or three) group of cadets in the back that were allowed to stand (to avoid falling asleep). We would lean on the radiators back there. One rime I actually dozed off standing up, but did not fall over (sort of like a horse - lol). The radiator burning my arse woke me pretty quick, though. :D

When I was 26 or so, I was driving one saturday morning to an Air National Guard weekend warrior drill and fell asleep briefly. I know I fell asleep because I was starting a long curved to the left section of the road and suddenly the road was straight in front of me. Well, the adrenaline shot (either side of the curved road  was and 8 ft. embankement and a swamp the car and me would have been submerged in) was enough to keep me 👀 wide awake the rest of the day.

Now, unlike when I was young, I do not sleep straight through the night. I wake up to urinate once (so far! (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/3-221017161839.png)). C'est la vie.

Title: Capitalist Elite Parasites see disasters as an opportunity to steal MORE government money, not help
Post by: AGelbert on May 09, 2019, 05:34:34 pm
     (http://www.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/3-080515182559.png) Great News Roundup!

So true about Puerto Rico. Besides Trump's inbred anymosity to Puerto Ricans, ever since the Puerto Rican Government told him to stuff it on some golf course he wanted some money for down there, he has been out to 'git' them. Trump is a petty, vengeful, psychopath crook with illusions of grandeur. He is his own worse enemy.

I think his heinous actions against Puerto Ricans will backfire, but not for ethical reasons. (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/1/3-210818163125-16722324.gif) Let me explain. The Puerto Rican Government power stucture is Bankster Corrupt to the core.

Those Fascists are joined at the triple tax free bond hip with their Bankster pals in New York. Just like Trump and his Daddy's criminal MO in New York as a real estate developer, the elite parasites in Puerto Rico shaft average Puerto Ricans by grabbing a significant portion of the money coming from the Federal Government through sweetheart government contracts to build schools, bridges or whatever, at a cost FAR above actual cost. The corruption down there, like in New York city, is horrendous. A hurricane just makes things more predatory, not more compassionate and humane.

As Naomi Klein pointed out in her Disaster Capitalism book, and later on specifically in regard to Hurricane Maria infrastructure repair money for Puerto Rico, the Fascsit/Capitalist Elite Parasites see disasters as an opportunity to steal MORE government money, not help fellow citizens.

IOW, elite parasites everywhere are all part of the human tick family that Trump belongs to. However, when some Puerto Rican ticks with lots of money and connections in New York get stiffed by the Trump Tick, they can make quite a bit of voting trouble IN FLORIDA AND ILLINOIS AND TEXAS AND CALFORNIA for the Trump Tick.

There's more, but my point is that Trump is damaging his political career by not playing ball with the Bankster Ticks in Puerto Rico.

Yes, Puerto Rico needs that money, and badly. Yes, good, decent people, now suffering needlessly from Trump's cruelty, will benefit from it, despite Puerto Rican Fascist Banker Corruption in that Government. So, I hope Trump eventually stops ordering FEMA to drag its feet.

Nevertheless, in view of how Trump's disdain for Puerto Rico harms his public relations and political career, Trump made a VERY bad move there. Good. (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/3-130418202709.png)

Speaking of Puerto Rico, I was looking through the gallery on this forum and did a sort to see which image got the most views. To my surprise, one of the most viewed was a breakdown of Mutual Funds with exposure to Puerto Rican Bonds! 👀

So, hello to all you 🦉 Puerto Rican lurkers out there! 🌴🌞

Surly, if you a haven't done that gallery sort by image views, I recommend it. The "most viewed" images provide, IMHO, pertinent insight on forum viewer interest (e.g. they are fascinated with 🐲 Agnotology).  8)

As to the images critical of the Fossil Fuel Industry Biosphere Trashing Business Model that no longer show for some, uh, strange (Hydrocarbon 😈 Hellspawn 🦍 HACKER) reason, I'm workin' on dat. Trump's actions vis a vis PR have seemed motivated by an unusual personal animus that goes beyond simple racism. Thanks for shedding some light on root causes. None of which will ever get play in the MSM.

Put doesn't even recognize Puerto Ricans as Americans, let alone human beings, an attitude which suits his Uncle Cracker constituency just fine.

WOW! Surly, your news roundup today is basically a short (updated to the present) course in the American skullduggery filled History of Mens rea Actus Reus involving the routine use of the false flag attack fakery for war profiteering, pollution for profit over people and planet and the targeted profiting from abuse, imprisonment and murder of minorites by arrogant bigots in government, along with voices from brave humans who have always called this EVIL out and provided options based on justice, not society destroying greed.  (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/1/3-120818180835-1626482.gif)(http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/1/3-120818185039-1655102.gif) (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/1/3-120818185037-16412296.gif)(http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/gallery/renewablerevolution/1/3-120818185038-16442135.gif)

Thanks, AG. Appreciate your comments. The DDD certainly reflects my POV. In putting a daily "paper"together, I have learned how an editor's sensibilities affect the presentation of "the first draft of history."

What gets put out is as important a decision as what gets put in.

Newspaper editor have space constraints in terms of layout. I also have "constraints" in terms of number of lines of code allowed. In order to have the page display properly, I use an HTML editor to cut extraneous lines of code to keep the page south of 85-90 or so. SMS pukes and will not display properly of too much HTML is on the page... the dreaded "brown screen of death" results.

    And so it goes.

Nuclear "coffin" may be leaking radioactive material into Pacific Ocean, U.N. chief says (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/general-discussion/doomstead-diner-daily/msg12414/#msg12414)

Agelbert NOTE: I'm not an engineer but I happen to know a thing or two about concrete and radionuclides. After 3 to 4 decades, BECAUSE of the FACT that concrete NEVER stops curing, but gets more and more brittle, creating tiny fractures that WILL fill with water, sealed radionuclides WILL, and DID, migrate through to the great (i.e. Pacific Occean) "outdoors" in this concrete "coffin".

There is no structure made of concrete on Planet Earth, and there never has been, that can prevent leaking of radionuclides, regardless of the thickness of the initial pouring of the concrete structure. ONLY routine inspections with new pourings every three decades or so can actually keep the radionuclides from getting out.

They did not do that in the Nuclear "coffin". I think they poured that structure in the 1960's right? That means that the RADIOACTIVE LEAKING has been going on since around, uh, um, 1990, give or take 5 or 6 years.

It's nice of them to notice that there "may" be a leak in 2019. Sleep well, our government is protecting us from Monsanto, Fossil Fuel air pollution, Catastrophic Climate Change, Police State Fascism, radionuclide leaks, Iranians, Venezuelans and North Koreans.  (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9HT4xZyDmh4/TOHhxzA0wLI/AAAAAAAAEUk/oeHDS2cfxWQ/s200/Smiley_Angel_Wings_Halo.jpg)

Perhaps that might work. I remember reading that the Roman formula for hydraulic concrete is so good that, not only will it set under water, but many columns they made to support pier facilities way back then still exist along the Mediterranian coasts. That doesn't mean that it isn't super brittle now, but if water cannot penetrate it for centuries, then it would provide a solution.

It ain't workin' because way too many people are onto this false flag SCAM the US Government has used WAY TOO OFTEN (i.e. sinking the battleship Maine, Gulf of Tonkin, Bush fooling Saddam into invading Kuwait in 1991, 9/11, Shrub Iraq "WMD" lie, etc. SEE: 😈 One EVIL Trick Pony (http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/climate-change/u-s-history-politics-climate-change-trump-impeachment-standing-rock-context/msg12423/#msg12423)).

Why should Iran talk to the US government? It was the Trump administration - at the behest and request of the Israelis and their Saudi brethren - that broke the Iran nuclear deal, not the other way around. And the wide consensus of the entire civilized world is that Iran did act honorably and did uphold its share of the deal. No doubt about this. None whatsoever.  Donald Trump's foreign policy is scalp-deep in warmongering guilt, and sinking lower with each passing day. The only excuse Donald Trump has is that Hillary Clinton's administration would have done exactly the same, which is no excuse at all.

You know, your signature on a piece of binding international treaty - even when the signature is that of the preceding president - is not merely an autograph memorabilia. It is a serious, legally binding commitment which ties the entire nation into a very serious, meaningful set of interlocking, mutually reciprocal obligations with the contractual counterparty. An international contract actually obligates the signatory to act in a good-faith manner and to prevent deliberate sabotaging of the contract.  If the word of honor of the great nations were as easily self-violated as the word of honor of dishonest individuals, this planet would be an uninhabitable horror. Which, essentially, is what it is now rapidly becoming.

A horrendous, irreparable damage - and extraordinarily dangerous one - has been done by Donald Trump's wanton and entirely unjustified retreat from the diplomatic deal with Iran. I think I speak for many people worldwide when I say that this may go down as the single worst diplomatic cataclysm in the entire American history replete with blunders, false flags and war provocations of all kinds -  if not the history of the world. After all, from this moment on, the good faith and credit (and the word of honor) of American government ain't worth a pitcher of warm spit.

The only thing that makes Mother Earth habitable is the trust among humans. Even when the trust is involuntary, even when it runs counter to emotions and all reason, even when it is imposed between (presumably honorable) enemies, some trust must persist for our species to survive. Donald Trump just smashed that trust to smithereens.

I have no recommendations for the sitting American government. What, precisely, do you suggest to someone who just declared the war on the entire humanity? (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-05-21/no-talks-only-resistance-irans-rouhani-slams-door-trumps-call-me-overture?commentId=f9ce017d-a603-4bce-9caa-b5b10781a7a7)

Indeed. My only quibble with this fellow, who is probably an intelligent and perceptive Iranian, and obviously a caring, responsible human being, is the timing of when, precisely, the US Government declared war on ALL humanity.

    I think it's been a while.

Your commenter points out the futility of "talking" to the government of the US. We have signaled that "treaties" are as binding as the administration that enters them, and that naked self interest trumps all other considerations. The Native peoples of this country try could have told them.

No one should be surprised that Trump will declare global thermonuclear war to defend the prerogatives of the ailment, or to save his own ass.

    Well said.

The sentence snippet read in the following screenshot is not what it seems.

Daniel Sheehan 👍 is reading a truth from the former FBI chief which was fired by Trump. While the words are true, Sheehan makes a point of saying that the framing is duplicitous.

The reason for that is that Comey is pushing the "most of the top people in government are principled (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9HT4xZyDmh4/TOHhxzA0wLI/AAAAAAAAEUk/oeHDS2cfxWQ/s200/Smiley_Angel_Wings_Halo.jpg) and a few bad apples like Trump mess all this up" meme. That is the COVER. That is the GUISE.

Sheehan makes it clear, in so many words, that this type of prose is used to lull people to sleep while the fascist takeover of our government, now nearly complete, proceeds under this cover.

The FACT is that, as things ARE now, you do not even get a chance to reach a high position in the U.S. Government unless you are ALREADY compromised. Principled behavior is verbotten in the U.S. Government.
