Instead of just a link, how do you show the article in full?

I have to do exercise for an hour now, but I will retun and show you how to do that.

At first, I had the same problem. Once you see how this works, you will have no problems.

But while you wait, just go to any of my posts with imagers and hit the "Modify" button. Then look at how I formated the image. I'll explain more in a little while.

Okay, I'm back.  I see that you aren't here right now so I'll just start the discussion for you you to pick up on when you get back.

As you know, some small smiley images are available just by pressing a button on the menu just above the text area for a post or a reply to a post (there are also lots of other cool tools in the posting menu but I am just discussing images today).

These are the ones you never size which are easy and quick to add  to posts anywhere in the text:

 :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(

Now, when you want to post an image like a jpg or a gif or a png (etc.) that you have uploaded to the gallery OR you have the full address of from somewhere else, the situation is different.

For example, below is the address to one of my kitty images:

http://renewablerevolutio...lution/3-250817124114.png

As you can see by the path of the address, it is an http (hypertext marking internet protocol address) image in the renewable revolution forum. It is located in the gallery and has an image number of 250817124114. It was uploaded as a png (Portable Network Graphics) type of image.

However, you do not see the image here.

In order to see the image, you need to format it properly. I will now show you the simple format to use, with a space between each character, so it will be be displayed here (when you use this format, do not put any spaces between the characters or it will not work).

[ i m g ] http://renewablerevolutio...lution/3-250817124114.png [ / i m g ]

NOW, I will repeat the above without the spaces:

Is all that clear as mud?  :D

Now let us go to one of your recent posts and modify the image properly. But before we do that, there is a trick I took a while to learn in the gallery that I will pass on to you.

You see, the gallery does NOT give the right image address right after you upload an image to it.

Yeah, it gives a link, but not the one you want.  ;)

To show you what I mean, I will go to the gallery and grab an image by copying the link address (see below).

http://renewablerevolutio...n=gallery;sa=view;id=1295

That's basically useless. Yes, you can "attach" the image to post, as you have done, but it doesn't look as good.

So here is what you do:

1. Right Click on the image and select "open link in new tab".
The address in the new tab is not what you are looking for:
http://renewablerevolutio...n=gallery;sa=view;id=1295

2. Go to the new tab and Right Click on the image and select "open  link in new tab".

3. The second tab has the address you are looking for.

http://renewablerevolutio...ution/3-071117175342.jpeg

NOW you can post that image by putting (without the spaces):
 [ i m g ] http://renewablerevolutio...ution/3-071117175342.jpeg [ / i m g ]

Here is the image:

It's too big so I have to size it down somewhat. I do that by putting a space after the "g" in "img" on the left side and assigning it a width in pixels. In this case, I assign it a "width=640".

I can make it as small as I want. Here is the image with a width=50.

You can now save the image address in a document for posting here or on the internet. If you post the address in Disqus, you do not have to format it but you cannot control the size. A brief description of the image in your document (e.g. Crime does not pay  calculator) will help you be able to find it quickly when your collection starts building up.

What you did with the Trump baby image, using the "attach" feature, has this address in the link:

http://renewablerevolutio...pic=134.0;attach=40;image

I looked up that picture and found the address on the internet (see below):

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/...AAED55j%2B%25281%2529.jpg

I will now format the above with [ i m g ] http://2.bp.blogspot.com/...AAED55j%2B%25281%2529.jpg [ / i m g ]

Now I'm going to size it down to img width=200.

Now I am going to center the downsized picture:

I size the images I want to use to cover the whole screen at img width=800. However I have several images at img width=640. The smileys are usually either without sizing or img width between 80 and 20, depending on how much impact I want them to have.

Returning to the galllery in this forum, always remember when you want to grab one of those images to do the "right click, open in new tab" twice" to get the address on the second tab of the image for posting and resizing.

I am ready for questions.

I'm going to have to study that for awhile, like you said, I can do the modify button to see what you did.  ;)
Is that what you use with your  emoji gallery too?
Also, how do you do the entire story?

This is deep and I'm Not.. LOL

Don't panic. Rome was not built in a day.

"Is that what you use with your  emoji gallery too?" Yes.

"Also, how do you do the entire story?" Hmmm. Everything is in sections.

Take this bit of text, for example:

ABXDEFGHIJKLMNOP12345

By default, the software places on the left (left justified) and with a standard text size of "10".

I can make it bigger and change the color of any part by using the "Font size" and "Change Color" feature in the menu above:

ABXDEFGHIJKLMNOP12345

I can do that selectively for any character, or group of characters:

ABXDEFGHIJKLMNOP12345

I can center the whole thing:
ABXDEFGHIJKLMNOP12345

I can make some of it bold and some italics or both:

ABXDEFGHIJKLMNOP12345

I can put the whole thing in quotes (quote button above):

Quote
ABXDEFGHIJKLMNOP12345

Exactly.

I just highlighted and copied a post published by Oil Change International at EcoWatch.

I will now paste it below and then copy and paste the headline and author and date. THEN I resize and center the headline to font size 18 and BOLD. If I want an image above, I would center it at a width of 640, usually. I place a link to the article at the end. Most of the time I do not post the whole article. I normally post a snippet to get people to read the full article at the place it was published first.

Paradise Papers Reveal Toxic Mix of Tax Havens, Oil and Trump’s Top Aides

Oil Change International Nov. 06, 2017 11:19AM EST

By Andy Rowell

On Sunday, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), working with dozens of media partners around the world, published the results of a huge global investigation into the use of tax havens.

The results of the investigation, based on the leak of 13.4 million files from two offshore service providers and 19 tax havens' company registries, are shocking and lead to people who are close to Trump.

The files, known collectively as the Paradise Papers, reveal the offshore financial affairs of some of the world's biggest multinational companies and richest individuals, including some in Donald Trump's cabinet.

Trump has said he will work for ordinary Americans, but his Cabinet are certainly not paying their fair share of tax.

Let's take a quick look at Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. The ex-boss of Exxon is named in the Paradise Files "as a director of an offshore firm used in a multibillion-dollar oil and gas venture in the Middle East that became embroiled in controversy," according to the Guardian, one of the papers involved in the Paradise Papers collaboration.

Tillerson was a director of Marib Upstream Services Company, incorporated in Bermuda in 1997 to conduct operations in the Yemen's Marib-Al-Jauf basin, according to documents from leading offshore law firm Appleby, which is at the center of the leak.

Marib was tied to Exxon during the time that Tillerson was president of ExxonMobil's Yemen division. Tillerson sat on Marib's board in the late nineties.

In turn, according to the ICIJ, Marib Upstream was a joint Venture between three companies, including the Yemen Exploration and Production Company which was jointly owned by Exxon and Hunt Oil.

Hunt had discovered the gas fields in the mid nineteen eighties and had brought in Exxon to help develop them.

However, according to the ICIJ, "In 2005, the Yemeni government … turned over production rights to a state-owned company," effectively nationalizing the assets. Naturally Exxon and Hunt objected and filed a complaint with the International Chamber of Commerce, although Yemen won. Despite this ruling, the company still existed as recently as 2015. But this is not Exxon's only offshore dealings.

The Guardian pointed out that in a report published last year, the campaign group Citizens for Tax Justice said Exxon had at least 35 subsidiaries in tax havens such as the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Luxembourg. The company held over $51 billion in offshore accounts while Tillerson was CEO.

The leak also raises questions about U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur L. Ross, Jr. who still has a stake in a shipping firm, Navigator holdings, that receives millions of dollars a year in revenue from a company whose key owners include Russian President Vladimir Putin's son-in-law, which is incorporated in the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. Some of the individuals linked to the company are closely related to top Russian officials currently under sanctions.

It is alleged that Ross was not totally forthcoming about the extent of these business dealings. According to NBC News, Ross "failed to clearly disclose those interests when he was being confirmed for his cabinet position."

And once again the scandal links to oil. According to the ICIJ, "Among Navigator's largest customers, contributing more than $68 million in revenue since 2014, is the Moscow-based gas and petrochemicals company Sibur," which was created by the Russian state.

Two of its key owners are Kirill Shamalov, who is married to Putin's youngest daughter, and Gennady Timchenko, the sanctioned oligarch whose activities in the energy sector, the Treasury Department said, were "directly linked to Putin."

The ICIJ continued: "The leaked files showed a chain of companies and partnerships in the Cayman Islands through which Ross has retained his financial stake in Navigator. The fact that Ross' Cayman Islands companies benefit from a firm controlled by Putin proxies raises serious potential conflicts of interest, experts say."

Amos Hochstein, the top energy diplomat during the Obama administration, told the ICIJ: "When you start doing business with Russian energy companies like Gazprom and Sibur, you're not just getting into bed with the company. You're getting into bed with the Russian state."

The Democrats have seized on leaked documents, with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) calling the revelations of the Kremlin links "inexcusable." Blumenthal also told NBC News, "Our committee was misled, the American people were misled by the concealment of those companies."

But today Ross has come out fighting. He told the BBC, "There's nothing whatsoever improper about Navigator having a relationship with Sibur … If our government decided to sanction them, that would be a different story."

AS you can see, I made some added adjustments to the story.  ;D The BS detector is sized at img width=150. The Ross CROOK is so full of bold faced BS that I felt it was approrpiate to point that out.

Technically it is legal under the copyright laws. When a web site makes a lot of noise about "this is copyrighted so do not copy any part of this anywhere else or we will come after you", I make real sure to not upset them by just putting the headline and a tiny snippet.

All the posts here fall under the Copyright Fair Use provision of copyright law.

The bottom LEGAL line is that I am posting them to encourage the dissemination of knowledge, not making money off of these posts and am not claiming to be the writer of these articles. That's what fair use is all about.

Certainly.

Here's a U-tube video from yesterday's Thom Hartmann program I just right clicked on it, copied it and pasted it here. I always center the video because it looks better. I copied his headline, placed it in bold, gave it BLUE color, Font size 18 AND, of course, centered it:

Are Hydroponics Watering Down Organic Food Standards? (w/Guest Lisa Stokke)

What would happen if the organic labels no longer specified organic foods grown in the soil but also hydroponics? Lisa Stokke from Next 7 Joins the Thom Hartmann program to discuss saving our food.
