Az,
Since you are open minded, unlike many out there who prefer to bask in unimaginative denial of anything they cannot instantly prove, I want to run this by you.

Have you ever considered how ROUND the Gulf of Mexico is? Isn't it possible that one BIG ASSED ROCK hit there and wiped EVERYTHING out within 10,000 miles (or more) in the past? Big bullets make round holes!  ;D

Human existence is incredibly fragile. I can picture a scenario where a rock that is NOT supposed to hit our planet from past NASA tracking (Near Earth Orbit - NEO rocks) DOES hit. All that has to occur is for the rock to get too close to the moon and get a gravitational slingshot at us. If it's big enough, we get ANOTHER GULF OF MEXICO!

Here's the result of a (somewhat smaller) hypothetical hit of an asteroid in the present Gulf of Mexico.

My friend you are spot on ! {pun intended}

According to the data/intel on said crater the object in question was 110 miles in diameter. It had to have entered the planet during Noah's flood event or the impact on dry land would have vaporized every living thing topside. Noah mentions a great wind across the land & I'll bet it's from this impact. Look at the devastation from Tunguska in Mother Russia. That event may not of even had an object hit but vaporize prior to impact.

Here's the corker. Most of the big shi tty's along the gulf are prone to slide into the gulf as their all built on the shift prone edge. Gil Broussard has graphics of the gulf event over at his you tube page (Planet7X) There's a drop box link to his stuff. It's well researched. Very interesting.

Thanks for following along on this thread. I know the threads getting looked at but folks must be just dumb founded about it all.

AG,
I forgot to mention also that " A L L " of our tectonic plates are a direct result of the gulf event. When that 110 mile across space rock came whistlin' in at  over 188,000 mph flamin' hot & punched its way to the center of the planet
through a flooded earth it not only **** earth mommy like an egg but created the Himalaya's instantaneously  :o ...... Notice that those mtns have a circular pattern Gil Broussard has graphics on this as well.

Gill Broussard also hypothesized that our moon was created from this flood/impact event. If you'll notice the land mass missing from the crust that is now ocean on this planet is closely equal to the mass of material used to create the moon.

  for that information.

AZ,
I just want to add that several years ago, when I learned of the hypothesis that our moon was the result of a blow from an asteroid that ejected it into orbit around the earth, I realized that it explained a LOT about the large size of the dinosaurs. Unlike sea creatures, which can get quite large despite the present gravity, land creatures are limited by physiology and bones density and leverage limitations.

Although the idiots out there will scoff, the math HAS been done and the only way dinosaurs could have gotten that big (modern elephant anatomy and physiology has have been compared as proof) was if the gravity was lower. A large asteroid striking the earth would explain the radical slowing of rotation (more perceived gravity through less centrifugal force) and the increase in gravity due to increased mass.

At any rate, I am convinced that earth, for whatever reason, had a more rapid rotation and less gravity due to less mass in the past. The Earth expanded. The relatively YOUNG age of the ocean beds is geologic evidence of that.

The expanding earth hypothesis does not mention the Gulf of Mexico strike. It should. I think that is the missing piece in the explanation of our moon and the large increase in Earth's mass.

The New York Public Library is currently working on a project to digitize its collection, and has amassed some 187,000 high-resolution images so far.  And in a welcome altruistic gesture, it's made the entire collection available online.

It's royalty-free, copyright-free, and you can browse and download the images as you wish.  So whether you want an illustration for a project, or you just want to peruse some stunning artworks without having to leave your web browser, it's now possible and won't cost you a cent.

Just head to http://www.nypl.org/research/collections/digital-collections/public-domain to get started.

How do finger lengths correlate with personality?

Will Wister, 1000s of hours studying psychology.
9.1k Views

The longer your ring finger relative to your index finger, the more masculine qualities you are likely to possess.

if you have a longer ring finger, it means you got more testosterone as a fetus and are more likely to be hyperactive, aggressive and disgusted by anything featuring Hugh Grant. A longer index finger, on the other hand, means more estrogen, making you more neurotic and sensitive. … Studies found that it was when the two fingers were nearly the same length that the subjects were more likely to be gay (men and women both).[1]

Scientists … have since found links, for example, between long index fingers in women and a likelihood of being highly fertile, unassertive, neurotic and unlikely to take risks. [2]

Men with particularly long ring fingers are more likely than average to be fertile, athletic and aggressive and to have poor verbal skills.[2]

“The other very strong relationship to digit ratio is found in running speeds — there is a pretty good chance of predicting who is going to win a race.”[2]

There are gender differences with respect to finger lengths in males, the second digit(index finger) tends to be shorter than the fourth (ring finger), and in females the second tends to be the same size or slightly longer than the fourth.[3]

This can be referred to as the 2D:4D ratio:

Femme lesbians are exposed to less androgens than butch lesbians – or rather it’s logical to infer that because of differences in the ratio of their finger lengths.[4]

Nature-Inspired Rugs Transform Your Home Into a Natural Landscape

Cole Mellino | February 14, 2016 11:37 am

Argentinian artist Alexandra Kehayoglou turns carpeting scraps that would have otherwise been thrown out into beautiful works of art. Using recycled scraps from her family’s carpet factory in Buenos Aires, Kehayoglou creates stunning patchworks that resemble natural landscapes, including moss, grass, sand, pastures, lakes and snow.

Kehayoglou has been creating the rugs since 2008. It takes about two months to make each rug, which she crafts using “a laborious hand-tufting process,” according to Colossal. “The carpets balance form and function and can powerfully transform an entire room into a lush meadow dotted with pools of water and tufts of grass. Many of her works even function as part tapestry and flow from walls to floor, or work as covers for chairs or stools.”

Kehayoglou told Country Living that each rug has personal meaning to her. Every piece is based on a specific memory and is tied to the landscapes of her home country. “The pieces are big and feel infinite,” she said. “They are meant to be portals that have the power of taking you where your memories are.”

Check out these photos of her beautiful rugs:

Incat To Design Ferry For Loch Ness Monster Hunt

March 4, 2016 by gCaptain
20m Catamaran Tour Vessel / Photo Credit: Incat Crowther

Incat Crowther said it received a contract to design a 20m catamaran passenger ferry, taking tourists in search of monster Nessie in the waters of Loch Ness in Scotland.

The vessel, being built by Cruise Loch Ness, will be powered by a pair of Volvo D9 MH main engines, producing 313 kilowatt (kW) per side. These engines are capable of propelling the vessel to speeds over 20 knots.

Incat Crowther’s Europe office is working on the preliminary design phase, including an analysis of the vessel’s platform and a narrow-beam catamaran.

The main deck is spacious with large windows for monster-spotting opportunities. Toilets and a bar are located aft. The upper deck is effectively an interior space, being open at the side whilst being covered above. This will allow the cruise to operate in various weather conditions, without forcing passengers inside, according to Incat Crowther.

The vessel’s design features an asymmetric wheelhouse, incorporating an enclosed wing control station on the port side, and an open access passage to starboard. The open starboard side passage allows direct access for crew between the wheelhouse and foredeck, whilst also giving the flexibility of passenger flow between foredeck and upper deck.

Construction of the vessel is underway at Exeter Fabrication Ltd in England.

Watch: Scary Video Shows SAR Helicopter Crashing Near Grounded Cargo Ship  :o

March 11, 2016 by Mike Schuler

Some scary video shows the moment a search and rescue helicopter crashed into the sea while responding to a grounded containership in Taiwan.

The accident occurred while responding to the grounding of the cargo ship TS Taipei near New Taipei City, Taiwan. One person was killed and the pilot was seriously injured in the accident, reports say. Three others aboard the helicopter escaped unharmed.

All 21 crew members were airlifted from TS Taipei on Thursday after the ship ran aground in rough weather.

Google makes its $149 Nik Collection photo editing software free to download

By Rob Thubron on March 25, 2016, 12:00 PM

SNIPPET:

Back in 2012, Google purchased German company Nik Software, the firm behind a series of photo editing plug-ins designed for amateur and professional photographers. The acquisition was primarily so Google could get its hands on popular photo app Snapseed, but the company also reduced the cost of Nik's collection of seven plug-ins from $499 to $149. Now, the price has dropped even more, right down to zero.

The collection includes Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. It's free to download for Windows and Mac, and provides “a powerful range of photo editing capabilities — from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images,” according to a statement from Google.

Three Castaways Rescued from Deserted Island After Writing “HELP” on Sand

April 9, 2016 by Mike Schuler

Three men were rescued from a deserted island in the western Pacific after a U.S. Navy patrol plane spotted the word H-E-L-P spelled out on the sand in a real life castaway drama.

The drama began Monday when the three men set out on their 19-foot skiff from Pulap in the state of Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. The men reported that a few hours after their departure their vessel was capsized by a large wave, and they spent the night swimming    until they reached the uninhabited island of Fandadik, located approximately four nautical miles from Pulap.

Coordinating the search, the U.S. Coast Guard enlisted the help of commercial vessels participating in the AMVER program and requested air support from the Navy to search the waters in the region.

Three days later, the men were spotted by a Navy P-8A aircrew on Thursday as they waved life jackets and stood next to a large “help” sign made of palm leaves.

A small boat was then able to recover the men from the island with no reported injuries.

“Ingenuity of these men to build their sign and the preparedness of having lifejackets also contributed to their safe rescue,”  the Coast Guard said in a statement on Facebook.

Agelbert NOTE: As an experienced (light twin air taxi) pilot having flown over, near and along palm tree lined beaches of the tropics often, I can tell you the "HELP" letters were seen from an aircraft that had to be flying BELOW 1,000 feet.

You can barely see anything the size of those letters above that.  :(

To see what I mean, just go to Google Earth and look at the numbers on an airport runway.

THOSE numbers (each number measures about 60 feet by 20 feet - at large airports with twin runways they have a letter "L" for "left" or "R" for "right" of the same size along the runway centerline)  CAN be seen easily up to 5,000 feet above.

A small boat from Pulap recovers three men from the uninhabited island of Fanadik after they were discovered by a U.S. Navy plane. (U.S. Navy)

The letters on that picture are not white on a black background; they are black on a sandy brownish background. This makes them harder to spot. The size of each letter, assuming the person nearby is about 6 feet tall, is about 12 feet by 7 feet. That severely limits the height at which they can be spotted by the unaided eye.

Free advice for you Doomers that don't want to be seen : Keep your lines small, curvy and discontinuous for your buildings and other infrastructure. That is the basis of all camouflaging techniques.   8)

The owner of the Segway company, Jimi Heseldon, died after he drove off a cliff while riding a Segway.

Garry Hoy, a lawyer in a Toronto law firm, died while attempting to prove to a group of students that the glass in the Toronto-Dominion Centre was unbreakable. Hoy threw himself through a glass wall on the 24th story. The glass did not break, but the window frame gave away and Hoy fell to his death.

Jerome Moody drowned at a pool party. The irony in this is that the pool party was held by lifeguards celebrating their first drowning-free swimming season. His body was found at the bottom of the pool after the party ended.

Michael Anderson Godwin, a convicted murderer who was at first sentenced to an electric chair but later had his sentence overturned to life imprisonment, accidentally electrocuted himself while sitting on a metal toilet seat in his prison cell.

Jim Fixx, a guy who wrote a best-selling book on the benefits of jogging, died from a heart attack while jogging.  :o  :P

Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, a woman wrongly declared dead by doctors, died of shock from a heart attack after waking up at her own funeral.  :(

Clement Vallandighan, a lawyer that was representing a defendant in the court against murder case, shot himself while trying to prove to the jury that the victim had accidentally shot himself and his client was innocent. He died but he won the case.
