Gonna steal this graphic. right on point.

Yep. The U.S. Gini coefficient is certainly pointing at it.

I wonder if Karl Marx, who said Capitalism is a revolutionary force that would inevitably self-destruct, believed the vehicle for the destruction of Capitalism would be a revolutionary force.

I've heard that he thought it would just sort of collapse when people in labor AND business figured out that the Capitalist ideology of "perpetual hoarding" and inveterate "greedism" unraveled the fabric of decent society too much to be worth the bother. He was, unfortunately, wrong about that.

The Capitalist/Fascist elite rampaging over we-the-people of the entire world, now using in-our-faces force and fraud more than ever ever, are firmly convinced that it is better to reign in Hell than to serve in Heaven, so to speak. They have no respect for "quaint" social behaviors that foster and reward altruism, harmony, cooperation, biosphere life sustaining math, and so on, despite the fact that these behaviors, widespread in nature, are the scientifically proven basis for perpetuating a species. This irrational rejection of what is sine qua non for a sustainable human society reality, based on cherry picked "survival of the most ruthless" Darwinian happy talk, evidences that the Capitalist Elite aren't just criminals; they are criminally insane.

Precursors of Revolution

While conditions appear to be relatively stable as of this date, historically revolutions tend to erupt without much warning when a combination of long simmering disagreements and discontent are ignited.  A few precursors that could set the stage for revolution-like developments include:

💣 Continued unchecked expansion of violent and non-violent crime leading to a loss in public confidence and trust in the police and further trends towards vigilantes and private security networks.

💣 Any pervasive economic down-turn generating large-scale unemployment.

💣 Significant reductions in welfare, social-security, and other benefits.

💣 Political assassination and violence between political organizations.

💣 Raids and thefts from armories and gun stores.

💣 Any extreme shift in government policies either left or right resulting in deprivations, confiscations, or oppressive measures.

💣 Contested and contentious elections marked by threats, demonstrations and violence.

It is difficult to predict what kind of events will transpire between now and the 2020 elections, but chaos and conflict seem inevitable. It seems doubtful that ether side will accept the results of an election without active resistance. It is highly possible that there will be more than two parties and that we could have a president and legislature elected without a majority mandate.  Instead of complacent inaction, survivalists should be taking this opportunity to focus on preparing for the hazards of 2019 and 2020.

Major Saudi Arabia oil facilities hit by Houthi drone strikes

The price of 🦕🦖 oil is too low. Time for a convenient excuse to raise it. Throw in a convenient excuse to keep using U.S. tax dollars to fund Saudi murder and mayhem in Yemen while you are at it. Don't worry about the FACT that it's an Israeli drone. just paint a Houthi flag on it and you are good to go. 😈

Refinery fires are good for the oil business, especially if you can use a false flag drone attack to boost war profits while you are are it. It isn't the 9/11 bonanza we got back in 2001 but it'll have to do. Besides, it's close enough to September 11 for us to link it though our media monkeys to the "Ayrab Terrorists did 9/11" reality perception distortion propaganda effort.

We Big Oil loyal servants of humanity need to always frame our planet polluting refineries as the "good guys".  We wouldn't want anyone celebrating less pollution due to a closed refinery, so we have to make people value them and feel sorry for refinery fire damage instead. This Orwellian stuff really works!

By the way, make sure those Greenpeace Terrorists terrorizing that bridge near Houston get jailed. They are a threat to Big Oil = National Security.

More than a dozen Greenpeace activists were arrested Thursday after partially shutting the Houston Ship Channel by suspending themselves from a bridge spanning the key oil route in protest against the fossil fuel industry.

We are so-o-o-o-o SCREWED by this fascist 🦕🦖 hydrocarbon hellspawn dystopia.

I wonder whether people will in fact actually "revolt,"given the the state controls every meaningful vector of force. The best way would be for people to become non-cooperative en masse.

Well, that's the thing. The vectors of force are, as Chris Hedges has pointed out, both a stick AND a carrot (see: Inverted Totalitarianism - Sheldon S. Wolin). That is, the public is being calmly and methodically herded into living in a nonresilient hand to mouth way that gives us little or no ability to just go off grid. True, the preppers can do that to a certain extent, but I'm sure there are very few prepppers than can last one year without having to go to a supermarket or put some gasoline in one of their machines.

The masses, like you and me, need a monthly paycheck (or a pension) to survive month to month. Then there are those pesky legal tender laws. My savings are in a bank, not under a mattress. How much cash do you have in the house? Not much, I'll wager. How long do you think you can survive through bartering when you aren't allowed access to a bank? Not long.

So what does that have to do with TPTB's plan to deal with non-cooperation en masse? Plenty.

Our routine daily living is the carrot. Though there is way too much gratuitous cruelty dished out by the police and other fascist forces in the USA on a daily basis, most of us get the carrot, not the stick.

En masse non-cooperation will happen when people have absolutely no other recourse due to environmental conditions. TPTB are preparing for that by slowly transitioning the manual work done at all levels to machines. So, when 35% or so (the minimum of what you usually need for a full blown revolution) of we-the-people stop cooperating, the plan is to brand us as "enemies of the state" and take away our driving, bank, supermarket and hospital "privileges".

Their plan will work, Surly. BUT, they know the peril they face shortly thereafter from implementing said plan.

The problem for TPTB is that there is a nation destroying inertia to these things. When such a large segment of the population is dying in the streets from hunger, disease and exposure to the elements, without a shot fired, the segment doing the enforcing fragments into warring factions between those with a heart and those who sold theirs to fascism.

That's when the shots start. Yeah, TPTB have war gamed this too. That's why they keep trying to keep the cops happy. But the cops WILL split into warring factions, no matter what the TPTB do with their perception management tools to keep the cops in line. Again, TPTB KNOW this is an unavoidable consequence of mass suffering among the populace. THAT is why they actually want to prevent, through routine veiled threats, the initiation of en masse noncooperation that begins the revolution in the first place.

All that said, TPTB will fight to the death with every bought and paid for cop and AI drone they have access too. They need us ONLY if they think we are useful to them. With Catastrophic Climate Change guaranteed now, TPTB WANT less human carbon footprints out there so the 1% can make it through the hothouse earth period.

Yeah, they are into wishful thinking there, but that isn't the point.

The point is that, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, huge advances in sensor technology and machines that are smarter than the averge bear (or human), they now CAN function without us. This is the danger we-the-people face. This is a danger we have never faced before.

Tyrants always wanted a large population to rule over, so, to a certain extent, the popultion could pressure said tyrant to back off with the gratuitous cruelty for a while. But at present, the tryants among us actually have a Climate Change "rationale" for "culling" most of us.

Think about that. They have the machines to keep them happy and they are worried about the environment they are trashing. Have these crazy bastards ever tried empathy?  Are they willing to admit they are the MAIN CAUSE if Catastrophic Climate Change?

Notice that I have not even brought up all the crazies with guns out there. I haven't mentioned these folks, many who are ex-military, family of cops or friends of cops, because I do not believe they are the ones that will start this. However, when it starts, and they need medicine at the closed pharmacy or food at the closed supermarket, they will get it.

Our civilization is far more fragile than meets the eye. TPTB, who are far more concerned with preserving the profit over people and planet (insane) status quo than we-the-people are, know that the present status quo is economically and environmentally unsustainable.

So, what do I think they are going to do about that? They are going to keep their bunkers in high tech condition and keep buying the cops. When, not if, the SHTF, they will attempt to "cull" 90% of the human population.

They will be partly successful, but they will be overwhelmed, despite the fact that their "controlling human behaviors during a revolution with targeted violence" computer models, prepared by the smartest psychologists, predict total success. Darwinian "Apex predator" GARBAGE math in, happy talk GARBAGE out.

The human population will be reduced to about half what it is now. Infrastructure will be in shambles. Global shipping will be a thing of the past. City states within countries will attack each other for stuff. It won't be "mad max", but that is the direction things will be headed towards. Survival will be more pressing than schooling. Less education always breeds more prejudice and irrational violence.

That surviving half will finish destroying the key parts of the biosphere we depend on, descending into nuclear war or cannibalism. The gross barbarism will feed on itself and guarantee more mass death.

Throughout that horror, there will be voices, as there have been for thousands of years, clamoring for repentance from our sins against God, an embrace of God centered altruism, harmony and respect for each other and nature. They will be drowned out by the materialists.

I don't know if we will go extinct or not. However, the successful perpetuation of our species does not look like a good bet right now. TPTB, and most of the rest of humanity, refuse to obey Christ's Commandments to respect fellow humans and God's Creation. Sure, it's been that way for thousands of years, but Catastrophic Climate Change is the human species Coffin we will all be buried in because of TPTB's stubborn clinging to the suicidal "might equals right" demonic blindness.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

For some 500 years, capitalism’s logic of eco-genocidal accumulation has presided over both the physical eradication of human and non-human life and the cultural eradication of the languages, traditions and collective knowledge that constitute life’s diversity. It necrotizes the planetary biosphere, leaving behind only decay. It burns the practically unrecoverable library of life and eradicates its future masterpieces simultaneously. It inflicts not just physical destruction, but psychological grief and trauma as people witness their lands go under the sea, get immolated by fire, and drown in mud. The First Extermination Event has now produced such a nightmarish world that even temperature maps scream in agony.

It will, indeed. Especially when the elites lose control their various conduit schemes to sieve wealth away from working class people.

I wonder whether people will in fact actually "revolt,"given the the state controls every meaningful vector of force. The best way would be for people to become non-cooperative en masse.

This is the essence of what I have believed for the past 10-15 years, and what led me to contemplate "collapse" and "doom."

The Great Culling is already under way, whether people are consciously aware or not. The multi-front wars against movement of peoples, against living off grid, against storing rainwater, of all things. All is restrictions on working people while we are reduced to penury. As you note, banjo- and handout-dependent.

We are all afflicted by "presentism;" the belief that the future will look recognizably like the past. It will not. We lack the capacity to imagine a future that will look utterly unlike anything we have known. We see the future fed into the zeitgeist via the "Walkng Dead" franchises, and the notion of a zombie apocalypse complete with drive-thru cannibalism. Nom nom nom...

the Anasazi were said to have served up a dish known as "malcorn." And the flesh of a conquered enemy was known as "longpig." We are not so far removed.

Well said. I've heard about longpig, though I didn''t know about Anasazi malcorn. Longpig was quite the thing with certain Pacific island tribes for a while. They took a particular liking to the white meat version. It's understandable for a people that believed they obtained the strength of their enemies by eating them.

In the Caribbean it was different, and somewhat more practical. The Caribe tribes, mostly based in Cuba before the Spaniards came and murdered them and all the other tribes in the Caribbean (mostly the males - the women who were sufficently attractive were preserved for sex, cooking and cleaning), were in the habit of raiding Taino tribes in what we now call Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. They would kidnap young male children, put them in a cage and feed them as much food as the kids could eat. When sufficiently fattened, they were slaughtered and cooked. Except that male children of similar ages are usually a bit bigger in size than females, I do not understand the Caribe Cannibal preference for eating young Taino males. Maybe it was a patriarchal society power thing or maybe they felt one less future warrier was a better menu item than one less potential wife.

It's a bit off topic, though probably not, but the fierceness of the Caribe tribes in Cuba and the relative docility of the Taino tribes in Puerto Rico may explain (King Ferdinand of Spain, in 1825, outlawed the native concubine practice and ordered all Spaniards in the colonies to marry their native wives - so, the tribal genes, as modern DNA analysis has proven, were passed on to present populations) why the Cubans never buckled under U.S. Imperial domination and my fellow gutless Puerto Ricans did. Perhaps I am judging fellow Puerto Ricans too harshly, since they were wily enough to survive and thrive under the Yankee boot, just as they did under the Spanish boot. The other thing that happened in 1825, that may explain King Ferdinand's getting religion about the "concubines" all of a sudden, is that most of the loyal bootlickers to the Spanish Crown rushed to the Caribbean colonies from South America, which was then in the process of giving Imperial Mother Spain the Bolivarian finger. So, there is that too.

Sorry for the digression.

Getting back to the root of the suicidal trajectory of Homo sap, I continue to believe that, as soon as the vice of selfishness is institutionalized as a "virtue", it is all destructive downhill thereafter. That is precisely what the Evangelical "Christians" corrupting the USA have done, as this video makes crystal clear. U-tube puts it into the "comedy" category. I classify it as TRUTH.

Trump 🦀 engages in Psychological Projection
« Reply #297 on: September 16, 2019, 04:21:59 pm »

Quote
Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote on Twitter that Kavanaugh’s nomination was “rammed through the Senate” without a proper analysis into the misconduct allegations against him.
“Confirmation is not exoneration, and these newest revelations are disturbing,” Warren wrote. “Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached.”

Trump's obvious psychological projection (it being that he is even more of a criminal sexual abuser and predator than Kavanaugh ever was) aside for a moment, there is that problem of a rather large and influentual fascist enabling cohort in "our" government that routinely blocks any and all efforts to get justice done in the USA.

Moscow Mitch, who richly deserves impeachment, AND a long prison sentence as well, is in the 😈 fascist enabler catbird seat to ensure justice is NEVER done. 🤬

Then there is 🐍 Mitch's crooked TRAITOROUS wife...

Mon Sep 16, 2019, 08:49 AM 💣 UAW hits GM with nationwide strike
Source: CBS News

Detroit — Some 46,000 members of the United Auto Workers went on strike early Monday, walking off General Motors factory floors and setting up picket lines as their midnight strike deadline came and went. Workers shut down 33 manufacturing plants in nine states across the U.S. as well as 22 parts distribution warehouses.

It wasn't clear how long the walkout would last, with the union saying GM has budged little in months of talks while GM said it made substantial offers including higher wages and factory investments. Talks were scheduled to resume at 10 a.m. EDT Monday.

It's the first national strike by the union since a two-day walkout in 2007 that had little impact on the company.

GM workers joined striking Aramark-employed janitors on the picket lines Sunday night at a sprawling factory on the border between Detroit and the small town of Hamtramck.

Read more: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/united-auto-workers-uaw-general-motors-gm-workers-strike-today-2019-09-16/

Near the bottom of the linked article it says that one of the issues involved is the cost of health insurance policies. Given that, you'd think that the top brass at GM would be all over some form of 'healthcare for all'.

Agelbert OBSERVATION: Surly, in this interview with Sam, RE tells the story of the Doomstead Diner, completely leaving my contributions to that forum and blog for nearly five years, out. :( Considering that I am the one who first brought the Collapse Chronicles dude videos to the attention of the Doomstead Diner, and considering that many views were generated there by my posts, it's rather disappointing. I remember when RE was ready to close up shop in the summer of 2013 from lack of visitors and new members and I helped cheer him up and keep going. I guess he forgot.

BUT, there is more. It seems that RE is unaware that you post here, because when he mentioned the Admins posting there, he specificially said that, though K-Dog posts additionally in his own blog, "Surly ONLY posts at the Doomstead Diner". It seems that RE has written me out of his history.

Most of the rest of the interview is devoted to RE's views on economics, always leaving Renewable Energy and ethics TOTALLY out of the picture, while harping on the "importance" of hydrocarbons. That is, the "lack" of hydrocarbons is what RE continues to, erroneously, IMHO, believe will cause the "collapse" (that never seems to come). I'm surprised he didn't launch into the old "high energy density" happy talk so favored by all hydrocarbon based energy WORSHIPPERS.

Although I am quite familiar with RE's arguments, listening to this interview I confirmed much about RE's world view that I had previously only suspected. I know RE is your friend, Surly, so I will not share with you what I think of RE's, "without oil, civilization will collapse and most of us are all gonna die" pitch, never mind his selective memory.

Of course RE is spot on about Trump. 👍

Finally, I will always be grateful to RE for setting up this forum and suggesting the "Renewable Revolution" name for it. 👍

That said, the interview cleared up any lingering doubts about the wisdom of my decision to stop posting at the Doomstead Diner.
