In US news and current events today, a man died after listening to Trump’s bunk medical advice. President Trump suggested that Chloroquine could be used to treat COVID-19, despite multiple medical officials warning against self-medication.

An Arizona husband & wife watched Trump’s press conference and discovered they had chloroquine phosphate for their fish tank. They ingested a small amount as a way to prevent the coronavirus. Within 20 minutes, they were both violently ill. The husband died shortly after arriving at the hospital and the wife is currently in the Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Fauci, a member of the COVID-19 Task Force, says there’s ‘no magic drug.’ But Trump says this unproven drug should be put in use immediately.

There’ve been nearly 50k U.S. cases of COVID-19 & more than 500 deaths. As of March 24 2020, there is no cure for the novel coronavirus.

Agelbert RANT: The slower pace of life due to COVID-19 required Social Isolation/Distancing will hopefully get people to think about what really matters, rather than what some Social Darwinist corporate CEO wants them to think that "matters".

Hat tip to Surly ✨ for pointing me to the following news stories.

The consequences of a flawed evolutionary paradigm are severly deleterious to rational  and logical thinking in modern society.

Capitalists fail to connect the negative consequences of predatory capitalist, rampant planetary exploition with the Darwinian concept of a mad scramble for resources by amino acids self assembling in a totally random manner resulting in the giant truck that is running us over now.

It's MIGHTY convenient for the conscience free psychos that fathered GAME THEORY (a twisted view of interrelationships between sentient beings justifying any and all heinous and barbaric behavior in the quest for who gets the most toys "caloric intake, etc") to have DARWIN around to make everything jes' natural behavior.

The evolutionary paradigm DID include cooperation as FAR more important than predation in the perpetuation of a species BUT the psychos quickly underplayed that so their planet trashing could have "scientific" backing.

Think about it:
Darwin--> Wall Street "scientific" fig leaf hijacking-->Freud-->Game Theory, a PARADIGM DESIGNED TO REPLACE the GOLDEN RULE as the most rational and species perpetuating behavior (the "fittest") is PRECISELY WHAT IS BEHIND the LACK OF GUILT by the 1% for TRASHING THE PLANET!

Altruism, cooperation, sustainability, holistic view of every process to see its value in the biosphere from the birth of new life to the decay of dead matter, NESESSARY for that future new life, is ABSENT from the modern paradigmatic view of SUCCESS. It's SUICIDAL and CRIMINALLY INSANE.

But they won't let it go because, because... THEY KNOW it will lead to GUILT, LIABILITY and an END to the con games denying reality. Love thy Neighbor as Thyself is not optional in the biosphere.

Survival of the "fittest", NO! Survival of the altruistic, YES!

The following is NOT what I was taught about Darwin's Theory in College Biology. But, it's nice that they are fighting Wall Street's CELEBRATION of GREED with some 🧐👨‍🔬🔬 HARD SCIENCE!

In US news and current events today, the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus has Americans perplexed. Former Labor Sec. Robert Reich lists nine questions that we deserve answers for from Donald Trump and his administration.

Why haven't the Army Corps of Engineers been mobilized nationally to set up quarantine units for Americans stricken in cities with high incidents of the virus?

Why aren't we building new, prefabricated, 1,000 bed hospitals in the 15 largest U.S. cities to deal with the massive number of people that are inevitably going to need them?

Watch the video to hear the rest of the questions that Trump should be answering for Americans during this time of crisis.

EPIC MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE BY US MEDICAL SYSTEM 😲

TOTAL INACTIVITY ON VIRUS UNTIL IT WAS TOO 🤮🤢 LATE

😷 👨‍⚕️ CHINA AND ITALY REPORT: COVID-19 IS A 🏥 HOSPITAL-SPREAD DISEASE 😵

A Brasscheck SPECIAL REPORT

Do you know where most of the CoVid-19 cases came from in China and Italy?

Hospital transmission from original patients to health care workers to non-infected patients and then to health care workers families.

China figured it out. Italy learned it the hard way. US hospitals still haven’t figured it out – because they didn’t care enough to find out.

Comments from hospital workers: “We’ve never seen an outbreak like this. No training or information is being made available whatsoever.”

Cell Phone Tracking Analysis Shows Where Florida Springbreakers and New Yorkers Fleeing Coronavirus Went to Next

By Eoin Higgins

A viral video showing cell phone data collected by location accuracy company X-Mode from spring break partiers potentially spreading the coronavirus around the U.S. has brought up questions of digital privacy even as it shows convincingly the importance of staying home to defeat the disease.

"First thing you should note is the importance of social distancing," tweeted Daily Dot journalist Mikael Thalen of the video. "The second is how much data your phone gives off."

The data in the video, which X-Mode fed into mapping platform Tectonix, shows people from one Florida beach over spring break departing the Sunshine State and spreading around the country, mostly to the Northeast.

The company also tracked people fleeing the outbreak from New York City.

"It's a glimpse into the power and scope of mobile tracking data, which the tech companies claim is anonymized to not reveal information about the owner of the device," wrote Newsweek's Jason Murdock.

According to Thalen's report on the data for the Daily Dot:

X-Mode states that the data used is "anonymized," meaning a cellphone's location is not linked to its user's identity. Tectonix took that raw data and honed in specifically on devices moving between 3 and 10 miles per hour in an attempt to pinpoint cellphone owners believed to be walking or traveling with bikes or scooters.
"I don't know what scares me more," tweeted CBC News reporter Roberto Rocha, "the spread of Florida beach revelers or that this data is being tracked."

In a report Wednesday on the outbreak, the Guardian revealed that the cell phone industry's international regulatory body the GSMMA is considering developing a global data-sharing system to track people from their devices in order to help contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Such a move would come with myriad privacy and security concerns and would be sure to generate intense backlash from civil liberty advocates around the world.

As the Guardian reported:

Quote
Until now the use of mobile phone tracking in the fight against Covid-19 has been restricted to national governments, which are either monitoring data within their borders or in discussions with mobile operators and technology companies about doing so.

They include the US, India, Iran, Poland, Singapore, Israel, and South Korea. The British government is engaged in talks with BT, the owner of the UK mobile operator EE, about using phone location and usage data to determine the efficacy of isolation orders.

The concept of an international mobile tracing scheme would go further, enabling authorities to monitor movements and potentially track the spread of the disease across borders.
The risks of letting state and corporate powers overrun civil liberties is real in a moment of crisis, warned the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Cindy Cohn on Monday.

"We already see calls from companies seeking to cash in on this crisis for unchecked face surveillance, social media monitoring, and other efforts far beyond what medicine or epidemiology require," said Cohn.

While there is a need to keep safe and healthy for the good of the community, Cohn continued, that should not come at the expense of vigilance over freedom and civil rights.

"Right now, when real science is so often under attack, those of us who care about truth, health, and each other need to take seriously the things that science and medicine are telling us about how to keep this virus from spreading," wrote Cohn. "And we also need to be vigilant so that we come out the other side of this crisis with a society we want to live in and hand down to our kids. We can — and must — do both."

It's an "educational tool." We're sure you understand.

Rhode Island door knocks in search of fleeing New Yorkers

WESTERLY, RI (AP) — The Rhode Island National Guard started going door to door on Saturday in coastal areas to inform any New Yorkers who may have come to the state that they must self-quarantine for 14 days while Gov. Gina Raimondo expanded the mandatory self-quarantine to anyone visiting the state.

Raimondo also ordered residents to stay at home, with exceptions for getting food, medicines or going to the doctor, and ordered nonessential retail businesses to close Monday until April 13 to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. She also directed realtors and hotel operators to include new requirements that any out-of-state residents must quarantine for 14 days in their purchase agreements.

State Police set up a checkpoint on I-95 in Hope Valley on Friday where drivers with New York license plates must stop and provide contact information and were told to self-quarantine for two weeks, WPRI.com reported.

If New Yorkers don’t comply, they face fines and jail time, Raimondo said, adding that that’s not the goal.

“I want to be crystal clear about this: If you’re coming to Rhode Island from New York you are ordered into quarantine. The reason for that is because more than half of the cases of coronavirus in America are in New York,” Raimondo said, adding that it’s not meant to be discriminatory.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the order “reactionary” and unconstitutional, saying he’d sue Rhode Island if the policy isn’t rescinded but believed they could “work it out.”

“I understand the goal ... but there’s a point of absurdity, and I think what Rhode Island did is at that point of absurdity,” said Cuomo, a Democrat. “We have to keep the ideas and the policies we implement positive rather than reactionary and emotional.”

President Donald Trump said Saturday that he had spoken with some governors and was considering some type of a quarantine to prevent people in New York and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut from traveling. Trump Late Saturday, though, he tweeted that a travel advisory should be administered and not a quarantine.

Trump told reporters at the White House that it would be for a “short period of time, if we do it at all.” He said he had spoken with Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., and Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., the country’s epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbot on Thursday joined other states in imposing quarantines on air travelers from the New York area, including New Jersey and Connecticut, and New Orleans, two places where COVID-19 outbreak is more severe. The Republican said travelers who don’t comply with the 14-day quarantine risk jail time, adding that state troopers would conduct visits to make sure people were staying put.

In Rhode Island, which reported its first two deaths from COVID-19 on Saturday, a team of a Westerly police officer and a Guard member were visiting stately and modest coastal homes in the Westerly neighborhood of Watch Hill collecting contact information from New Yorkers and telling them to self-quarantine. They expected to go to about 1,000 homes over a few days.

“This is more of an education tool to make people aware and comply with what we are asking them to do,” said Westerly, Rhode Island, police chief Shawn Lacey. “We are certainly hope it doesn’t get to enforcement action that has to happen.”

Reha Kocatas, a New Yorker who arrived March 22 from the Bahamas to his Rhode Island home, said his wife and two children were visited by a police officer and a national guardsmen. Already under a 14-day quarantine per a state order because he had arrived from outside the 50 states and the District of Columbia, Kocatas said he volunteered information to the authorities including the number of people in the home, when they entered Rhode Island and his and his wife’s date of birth.

But he questioned why it was necessary to send a police officer to his door.

“It seemed like a pretty large waste of resources for something that could have been volunteered through an online form pretty quickly,” he said.

“If New Yorkers are such high risk individuals, why are we putting first responders in front of these individuals is a little questionable since there is no action item at the end of the day,” he continued. “They weren’t going to remove us. It seemed like bureaucratic grandstanding. The local community that happens to be here believes that it’s a waste of precious resources when time is the essence in preparing for other things.”

Ramaindo said only an estimated 50% of Rhode Islanders are complying with social distancing, with crowds spotted at a beach, groups at parks, crowds at big box stores and house parties. As a result, she banned gatherings of more than five people and urged people to limit interactions to the same five.

For those who are not complying with social distancing: “I’ve said it last week, I’m going to say it again, knock if off. You are risking the lives of everyone in this state,” she said.

People able to work from home must do so, she said. Residents who work in Massachusetts and must go to work, must self-quarantine after work at home, she said.

For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, or death.
