Yep.  The CAPITALIST/FASCiST ‍ ☠️ Trump plan, fully supported by 👹 Troglodyte McConnell (and surreptitiously supported by the 🐍 Pelosi Corporate "Democrats") is to let a lot of people die so the CAPITALIST "economy" can live. The herd immunity "justification" thing is basically IN-OUR-FACES SOCIAL DARWINISM. It's "might equals right". It's the ROOT of all CAPITALIST IDEOLOGY. It's the fangs of the empathy deficit disordered, cruel, exploitative, murderous, killer sociopath celebrating, altruism demonizing, money worshipping RELIGION of CRAPITALISM BEING EXPOSED.

The only good thing about this is that it gives clarity about how ideologically SIMILAR the Democratic Party is to the other wing of the US CRAPITALIST PARTY, the Republican troglodytes.

A group of young adults held a coronavirus party in Kentucky to defy orders to socially distance. Now one of them has coronavirus

(CNN) — At least one person in Kentucky is infected after taking part at a "coronavirus party" with a group of young adults, Gov. Andy Beshear said Tuesday.

The partygoers intentionally got together "thinking they were invincible" and purposely defying state guidance to practice social distancing, Bashear said.

"This is one that makes me mad," the governor said. "We have to be much better than that."

While Covid-19 has been more deadly and severe for people older than 60 and those with underlying health issues in data from China, health officials and leaders around the country have been imploring millennials and other young people to practice social distancing, because even people who are infected but without symptoms can transmit it to other people.

In fact, recent modeling based on Chinese data shows that asymptomatic carriers of the virus may have been responsible for its initial rapid spread there.

And the virus seems to be affecting young people in the United States more than it has in China. A report released last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that up to 20% of people hospitalized with coronavirus in the United States are between the ages of 20 and 44.

"So far the demography definitely seems to be very different in the United States versus in other countries that saw this hit earlier," US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams said on NBC's "Today" on Monday.

In New York state, more than half of coronavirus cases -- 53% -- have been among young people between the ages of 18 and 49, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday.

California on Tuesday reported the first death in the United States of a Covid-19 patient younger than 18, and the family of a 12-year-old in Georgia said Sunday she was on a ventilator and fighting for her life in an Atlanta hospital.
There also have been "concerning reports from France and Italy" about young people becoming seriously ill, "and very seriously ill in the ICUs," said Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House's coronavirus reponse coordinator, last week.

There are now more than 52,000 cases of the virus in the United States. At least 680 people had died as of Tuesday afternoon.

There are at least 163 cases of Covid-19 in Kentucky, Beshear said Tuesday, announcing 39 new cases there.

CNN's Jacqueline Howard and Faith Karimi contributed to this report.

How Americans Are Being Exploited — at their Most Vulnerable
By Umair Haque in Eudaimonia and Co

SNIPPET:

You know and I know the real reason Americans are being made to work during a pandemic: money. So that profits rise, so that stock markets rise, so that the rich get richer. So that, in other words, the system doesn’t collapse in on itself. A cynic might have an even darker interpretation: so that Americans know their place. So that they’re so beaten, weary, terrified, and anxious, they never really have the time or energy to question the insanity of all the above.

Because insanity is really the only word for it. What else would you call a society that has a massive surplus of homes, money, medicine, food — and yet 75% of people still struggle to “afford” these things? What the?

That’s insanity, for three reasons. First, no progress is possible. People are just made to work for things they already have. So what reason is there for anyone to really create anything new, positive, life-changing? Why bother, when you can exploit people over what they should already have — which a mobster might just call extortion?

Second, regress tends to happen. When I feel desperate and bitter, when I grow poor and insecure, I’m likely to turn to demagogues, like the idiot America has for President right about now. Third, societies like that fall apart. When I can see that my society has a surplus of the very things I need desperately — why would I trust my institutions? My leaders? The system? Anyone or anything? Bang! A society plunges into distrust and enmity and hostility and superstition that way. It literally begins to disintegrate — just the way America is.

That’s immiseration, my friends. The insanity of a society denying its people the very things it has an abundant surplus of. In America, they used to be things like medicine, food, money, education. Today — even more grimly — the thing Americans are being denied…that they have an abundant surplus of is…have you figured it out yet?

It’s life itself. When you’re made to go back to work, during a pandemic, you risk your life. But there’s literally no reason to. No reason, that is, except more profits for the ultra rich. (Yet that is no good reason at all — because, as we’ve established, society has a massive surplus of just those profits. Not only that, money is denominated by life. If life has no worth — what good is money? All it can really buy is violence, the right to harm life. But I digress.)

Americans were — until last week or so — immiserated over money, food, homes, education, medicine. Society had a huge surplus of these things, and yet Americans never had enough of them, because they were deliberately withheld. Americans were made to compete viciously and brutally over them, instead, so that profits could skyrocket forever.

Today, Americans are being immiserated over life itself. Their institutions are literally telling them they must work — or else. On the one side, they risk losing their lives, yet on the other, they’ll lose their incomes, what little healthcare and retirement and stability they have. What kind of choice is that? A choice that says: on the one side, you don’t live, and on the other, you don’t either.

But these are the outer limits of immiseration, too. It’s one thing for a society to withhold a surplus of homes, food, medicine, money. But life itself? As in the basic right not be infected by a global pandemic, and infect those you love, too? Just so that “the economy” as in profits and stock markets for mega-corporations can “keep going”, as in keep rising forever? What on earth? Can immiseration get more extreme than that, really?

In US news and current events today, President Trump keeps promising things that aren’t real in his speeches on the coronavirus. There is no official system in place to screen returning passengers some have had their temperature taken in an ‘advanced screening’ but none have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Weeks later, hospitals are still reporting a shortage of tests and many people require a doctor’s approval to get one. Insurance companies have agreed to waive copays for testing and not treatment for COVID-19.

And according to The New York Times, the ‘1,700 engineers’ were just Google employees offering to volunteer ‘if needed.’ The FDA quickly denied the drug had been approved
to treat COVID-19. The Navy confirmed both ships were undergoing maintenance, and neither ship reportedly had a medical crew available.

Coronavirus: Why Canada is at Enormous Risk of Becoming as Bad as Italy 😖 in the Next Few Weeks 😵
2,322 views•Mar 25, 2020

Paul Beckwith

Ancient wisdom from thousands of years ago in the Middle East is as follows: If a plague comes to your country then stay home. If you are in a foreign country and a plague comes there, then stay there.

Italy did not heed this. Large numbers (60,000?) of Chinese people working in Northern Italy luxury clothing industries went home to China for the January 24th Chinese New Year, then returned to Italy.

Canada did not heed this. More than a million Canadians in the US for March Break (and snowbirds) returned to Canada between March 14th and 20th. More are still coming. Tell me how Canada will not get crushed like a bug in the next few weeks??

Category Science & Technology

Agelbert COMMENT: Yes, it will be bad in Canada. However, it looks like it will be much, much worse in the US. In fact, because of the criminal negligence inherent in the Social Darwinist CAPITALIST IDEOLOGY, arrogantly on display in just about EVERYTHING Trump and his wrecking crew do, the deaths from COVID-19 in the USA will FAR exceed the amount of deaths from Italy, Spain, China AND Iran, combined.  😱 Being in the US high risk (over 70) group here in Vermont, I will probably be one of them. 😞

The Lord's Prayer In A Pandemic

Jim Wallis

The Lord’s Prayer, which Jesus told his disciples to regularly pray, is the most common prayer offered in our churches today. We recognize these words when we hear them in our houses of worship and pray them in our own households, with our families, and privately in our hearts. Many of our traditions include The Lord’s Prayer each Sunday, and it is likely being repeated more and more often during the COVID-19 pandemic, even as congregations meet virtually.

As President Trump has said he’d like to see “packed churches all over our country” on Easter Sunday to help him reopen the country and restart the economy, which he apparently thinks will help him get re-elected, we need the words of the Lord’s Prayer more than ever. The call to reopen comes despite the exact opposite instructions from health care professionals, along with governors and mayors across our nation, to maintain our social distance and closures until the dangers of this modern plague are past us. Trump’s reckless invitation to take our worship and prayers back into our churches before it is safe to do so is not only monstrous political irresponsibility, but religious sacrilege.

I predict that legions of pastors, priests, and lay church leaders will ultimately ignore 🦀 Trump’s alarming advice, instead continuing to take their faith and worship virtual for the sake of healing the nation. Sojourners supports you in publicly saying “no” to Trump’s dangerous call — we've been collecting resources and guides to help you and your congregations gather safely. And we’ll be offering more opportunities to reach out to each other and speak out against reckless leadership in the coming days.

Agelbert RANT: The slower pace of life due to COVID-19 required Social Isolation/Distancing will hopefully get people to think about what really matters, rather than what some Social Darwinist corporate CEO wants them to think that "matters".

The consequences of a flawed evolutionary paradigm are severly deleterious to rational  and logical thinking in modern society.

Capitalists fail to connect the negative consequences of predatory capitalist, rampant planetary exploition with the Darwinian concept of a mad scramble for resources by amino acids self assembling in a totally random manner resulting in the giant truck that is running us over now.

It's MIGHTY convenient for the conscience free psychos that fathered GAME THEORY (a twisted view of interrelationships between sentient beings justifying any and all heinous and barbaric behavior in the quest for who gets the most toys "caloric intake, etc") to have DARWIN around to make everything jes' natural behavior.

The evolutionary paradigm DID include cooperation as FAR more important than predation in the perpetuation of a species BUT the psychos quickly underplayed that so their planet trashing could have "scientific" backing.

Think about it:
Darwin--> Wall Street "scientific" fig leaf hijacking-->Freud-->Game Theory, a PARADIGM DESIGNED TO REPLACE the GOLDEN RULE as the most rational and species perpetuating behavior (the "fittest") is PRECISELY WHAT IS BEHIND the LACK OF GUILT by the 1% for TRASHING THE PLANET!

Altruism, cooperation, sustainability, holistic view of every process to see its value in the biosphere from the birth of new life to the decay of dead matter, NESESSARY for that future new life, is ABSENT from the modern paradigmatic view of SUCCESS. It's SUICIDAL and CRIMINALLY INSANE.

But they won't let it go because, because... THEY KNOW it will lead to GUILT, LIABILITY and an END to the con games denying reality. Love thy Neighbor as Thyself is not optional in the biosphere.

Survival of the "fittest", NO! Survival of the altruistic, YES!

The following is NOT what I was taught about Darwin's Theory in College Biology. But it's nice that they are fighting Wall Street's CELEBRATION of GREED with some 🧐👨‍🔬🔬 HARD SCIENCE!
